This book scared the daylights out of me! It is certainly not for the faint of heart. It is hard to believe that a writer of children's books could write this supernatural psychological thriller and do it phenomenally well. You won't even realize you are frightened as you read it--it sort of creeps up on you, slowly insidiously until you feel your heart beating just slightly harder, the hairs on your arms raising up and the ending won't make you feel much better. I am glad I read it and the way it ended--there may be a second one coming but the author makes no mention of it. Would I read the second one? Yes I would--I'll just make sure that I read it in the daytime with lots of daylight shining into my apartment!

About the Book: (from the author's website )

At a trendy Turkish tavern one Friday night, astrophysicist Gabriel Diaz meets a mysterious young woman. Captivated by her beauty as well as her views on good and evil, he spends the next several days with her. Soon, however, he begins to notice a strangeness in her–her skin’s abnormally high temperature, her obsession with milk products, her child-like and bizarre behavior as she seems to take pleasure in toying with his conscience.

The young woman, Kamilah, invites him to Rize, Turkey, where she claims her family owns a cottage in the woods. In spite of his heavy workload and the disturbing visions and nightmares about his sister’s baby that is due to be born soon, Gabriel agrees to go with her.

But nothing, not even the stunning splendor of the Black Sea, can disguise the horror of her nature. In a place where death dwells and illusion and reality seem as one, Gabriel must now come to terms with his own demons in order to save his sister’s unborn child, and ultimately, his own soul…

Not sure if I would read this book since I'm a bit of a scaredy cat, but I do find it interesting that the author writes children's books, too. :)

Thank you, Kim, and thank you all for your wonderful comments. I hope you'll give Dark Lullaby a try. It's only $.99 :-)

I don't find it strange that I write both children's books and horror. I'm able to switch modes quite easily. So many things inspire me!

Have a great Halloween everybody. Thanks again, Miki.

It sounds like the kind of book that I would freak out so bad I won't even get out of the bedroom to pee without my husband. LOL! I like paranormal, thriller, horror movies, but I do get scared too and starts seeing things. :) Thanks for sharing your review.

I love how multicultural the setting and the characters are in this book. It's always nice to learn about the rest of the world and have a good storyline at the same time.

I'm no a fan of scary books (nightmares!) but my husband LOVES them. So, this is definitely going on his Christmas list. Thanks for the review!

That is quite a transition...from children's author to scary book author, LOL. Sounds like she is a true author that can transition and still write wonderfully.
