Book Review-Sold on a Monday-a Novel-Kristina McMorris

Wednesday, January 19, 2022

This novel is gut wrenching. You will be praying as hard as you can that all comes out right in the end. Luckily it does--but not without some major twists and turns.

Ellis Reed, upon seeing the sign on a run down house--Children for Sale--he can't help but take a picture. Even though he is a newspaper reporter--he had no intention of publishing this one--but fate had other things in store. The picture was ruined in the office and his boss insisted he go back and get another one. Those people has disappeared but there was another house--he convinced the Mom to allow him to take the picture there. Ellis lived with the guilt that the picture was fake--but it really started his career.

With the help of his bosses secretary who had a big secret of her own--they set out to find the two children.

Although this is a novel--it is based on what really occured back in the depression-where Mother's sometimes had to sell their children. Hard to beleive--but true!

An unforgettable novel by Kristina McMorris, inspired by a stunning piece of history.

2 CHILDREN FOR SALE

The sign is a last resort. It sits on a farmhouse porch in 1931, but could be found anywhere in an era of breadlines, bank runs and broken dreams. It could have been written by any mother facing impossible choices.

For struggling reporter Ellis Reed, the gut-wrenching scene evokes memories of his family’s dark past. He snaps a photograph of the children, not meant for publication. But when it leads to his big break, the consequences are more devastating than he ever imagined.

Inspired by an actual newspaper photograph that stunned the nation, Sold on a Monday is a powerful novel of love, redemption, and the unexpected paths that bring us home.
