This is an exceptionally well written prelude to the Vision Chronicles. I have already read all 8 in that series--this novelette will give you a synopsis of all the prior reincarnations of Mike and Danny and leads beautifully into the first of that series. There is an excerpt of that after the prelude ends. These two are star-crossed soul mates who always seem to be pulled apart by one man. I think I said this in one of my reviews (I read and reviewed each separately) that I truly believe this series should be made into a TV series. Although you can read the prelude first or last like I did--you will have to read the 8 novels in order--each cliff hangers into the next! Actually if it is in a set--buy it that way because you will not want to stop reading!!
