Book Review-A Cat to Die For-Mina's Fifth Adventure-Maria Grazia Swan

Has one of your animals ever disappeared? I can tell you it is the most frightening thing that can ever possibly happen to a person, especially when it is a cat--they can hide like nobodies business. Gremlin, who is now over the rainbow, disappeared on me once--I wandered the streets for hours--tears running down my face calling his name. Well it turned out that he never left the apartment at all-I still don't know where the heck he hid (the renting agent was in my apartment-I was about to move--and I guess he didn't like him). But when he heard me crying my heart out--out he came to comfort me!!

But now imagine your cat was stolen by an ex boyfriends new girlfriend--then--because said cat was an expert escape artist-got away from the robbers and was roaming the streets somewhere. There was only one thing that would get this cat to respond and quickly---it was a song (no I won't tell you which one). And the cat sitter that the ex's boyfriend had hired to take care of Houdini was murdered---What in the heck was going on here? And why did that woman need Houdini so badly in the first place?

If you are a cat lover or even an animal lover and enjoy an easy read that might have you looking for the tissues-that includes a lot of light hearted moments between the ex and Mina--then you will definitely enjoy this book. I know I did!

About the Book: (from Amazon)

Mina Calvi's new Furry Friends Foundation is a dream come true for the formerly footloose young woman. Her no-kill shelter rescues and places dogs and cats into new forever homes, and it gives Mina a purpose in life.

But changes are looming on a perfect Sunday afternoon at the Dana Point Marina where she is minding the adoption booth.

A Greek heiress, young, petite and beautiful, shows up on the arm of the love of Mina's life, Diego Moran. And worse, she wants to adopt Mina's calico cat, Houdini. The spoiled woman will not take no for an answer. Why is she so insistent on getting Houdini when she already owns a look-alike cat?

When Houdini is cat-napped, the cat-sitter murdered, and the ransom demand sent to the heiress, Mina has to keep her wits about her to get her beloved cat home safely, and to keep her heart from getting broken again by Diego, who inexplicably pops up at every turn of the unfolding drama.

I love to hear from my readers. mgsweb1@gmail.com thank you

National Bestselling author Maria Grazia Swan was born in Italy, but this rolling stone has definitely gathered no moss. She lived in Belgium, France, Germany, in beautiful Orange County, California where she raised her family, and is currently at home in Phoenix, Arizona--but stay tuned for weekly updates of Where in the World is Maria Grazia Swan?

As a young girl, her vivid imagination predestined her to be a writer. She won her first literary award at the age of fourteen while living in Belgium. As a young woman Maria returned to Italy to design for--ooh-la-la--haute couture. Once in the U.S. and after years of concentrating on family, she tackled real estate. These days her time is devoted to her deepest passions: writing and helping people find happiness.

Maria loves travel, opera, good books, hiking, and intelligent movies (if she can find one, that is). When asked about her idea of a perfect evening, she favors stimulating conversation, Northern Italian food and perfectly chilled Prosecco--but then, who doesn't?

Maria has written short stories for anthologies, articles for high profile magazines and numerous blogs tackling love and life.

My Mom and I both love to read. We also both love cats and mysteries. A book with both could be fun.

Hmm, this one is poor timing for me. We have a neighborhood cat that just raided the bunny nest in our yard. Cats aren't high on our list of favorites right now...

This sounds like a great read!! It would be heartbreaking to have a cat run off like this.

Since my daughter moved home with her two cats and a dog, I have become a confirmed cat lover! Although ours are indoor cats, I can't imagine having one of them gone for more than a few hours. Love the imaginative way the author includes her love of animals into an easy-to-read story for all us animal lovers. I really loved hearing that the setting is a rescue too, as I resonate with a story that has a cause behind it. Sounds like a light and fun read! Perfect for all of us summer book lovers.

Thank goodness none of our animals have ever disappeared. I have friends who have had this happen to them and it was heartbreaking.

Ohh!!! What a wonderful surprise. Thank you Miki, thanks you to all your kind readers commenting. Yes indeed, I volunteer at HomeFurGood and I stick to cats mostly because I'm a cat person and also because I can't look into the eyes of a sad dog without crying...again, thank you. Like Mina would say, mille grazie. Ciao.

I'm a brand new cat lover and she owns my heart already. I would love this book for that reason, I think!

Cats are smart and so sweet. Glad your Gremlin did come out of his hiding place when he heard you crying. The story of this book sounds good. I'm curious to know who killed the cat-sitter.
