Book Review-Whiskey Devils-Brandon Zenner

This book is not for everyone. There are drugs, violence and good old fashioned friendship. I guess you had to be around in the 60's and 70's to really appreciate what goes on in this novel. Nick--an aging hippie rents a house where he and all his friends congregate and party. But Nick's background is shrouded in mystery and is only slowly, very slowly revealed. You really won't see the ending coming. Evan has just quit his day job to join Nick's enterprise full time. Then Nick's past shows up to haunt them all.

All is not as it seems and Evan is left to find out the truth about all of these friends. But not until all hell brakes loose!

Yes, I did enjoy this book and am very glad I read it--but please do read the chapter below first and this book is definitely for adults--it is NOT for teens or young adults at least in my opinion.

About the Book: (from Amazon)

Running a criminal enterprise is hard work: Evan Powers has become the new manager in Nick Grady's well-established marijuana growing operation. Led by his roommate and best friend, little has changed in Nick's secretive business since the late '60s, which is just the way the aging hippie would like it to remain. However, Nick's complex past comes full circle, thrusting Evan in a scramble to decipher the truth behind the enigmatic lives of the people he holds dear. Deep in the woods, demons will be unleashed.

Thanks for the warning! Some books are pretty tame and bridge genres but I guess this is a definite adult one.

While I was 'around' in the 70's, I was much too young to know what was going on around me. May not be the title for me.

I certainly don't mind a gritty novel, and in fact, it's a nice change of pace!
