Breast Cancer Awareness Month-A Happy Ending!

Saturday, October 6, 2012

It is October, breast cancer awareness month. My cousin was diagnosed with breast cancer this year but with the awesome help and guidance of her primary physician (and her own indomitable spirit!) she has come through the operation and is looking forward to a long, long life filled with travel!!

I asked what I could do and found out that my cousin would love to have people donate to Dr. Amy Tiersten (her amazing primary physician!)directly through the faculty and friends organization. Here is what it says on the site.

The Faculty & Friends Campaign gives patients, family and friends the opportunity to say “thank you” to our exceptional doctors and nurses for all they do as well as provide philanthropic support critical to NYU Langone Medical Center. Your gifts support our vision to be a world-class patient-centered integrated academic medical center and will have a profound impact on every person who enters our Medical Center – either to receive care or to care for others.

The strong bonds that exist between our doctors and nurses and their patients are a testament to the extraordinary work that takes place every day at NYU Langone Medical Center. By participating in the Faculty & Friends Campaign, you can acknowledge someone who has made a difference in your life, or the life of a loved one. Every dollar that you give goes directly to supporting NYU Langone Medical Center’s ongoing commitment to setting the standard for medical care today.

So, If you can, please go to the website and donate whatever you can---and please remember to put Dr. Amy Tiersten's name in the appropriate place.

Breast cancer awareness of one of my top charities that I donate my time and money to. My aunt died 35 years ago at the young age of 26 to breast cancer. Thanks for sharing!

My late Grandmother had breast cancer, so this is a cause that has always been dear to me.

Sadly this issue still needs more attention. Thanks for sharing and keeping this in front of us. One day, one day...they will find a cure or a way for sooner discovery and treatment.

One of the best charities to get involved in. It touches all of our hearts in one way or another.
