Book Review-Frozen: a ParaNormal Mystery (Cassie Scot Book 7)-Christine Amsden

Tuesday, May 1, 2018

First off I would like to say that this is in the Young Adult genre. I am still not quite sure what that means--all I know is that I have loved every single one of the books in this series. Down below, where you see all the titles, I have linked up to each of my reviews--Yes--I have read every one of them!! There is just something about how Christine Amsden write that grabs me. I was really heartbroken when she originally announced that the series was ended. I was SO HAPPY when she decided to continue with Cassie Scot's life! I went in and purchased it right away!!

Cassie is now married to her former nemesis--They are both very much in love and have a darling little daughter who has magical abilities of her own. Cassie still doesn't really have any but she channels from her daughter. Well actually she does--and causes quite a disaster.

The magic in the younger generation is getting stronger and stronger-it is getting harder to bind their magical abilities-Cassie's Mom is totally depressed and has not been taking care of the kids she has at home-leaving it to the older ones. Cassie ultimately figures this out and brings them to her home.

There are all kinds of fantasy type things--hell hounds--fairies--and between them they are literally FREEZING people and has the entire town depressed!

Obviously I can't say much more--I really want you to read this series. Each can stand alone but why miss any of the story line?

About the Book: (from Amazon)

Apparently, life doesn't end when you get married.

When a couple freezes to death on a fifty degree day, Cassie is called in to investigate. The couple ran a daycare out of their home, making preschoolers the key witnesses and even the prime suspects.

Two of those preschoolers are Cassie's youngest siblings, suggesting conditions at home are worse than she feared. As Cassie struggles to care for her family, she must face the truth about her mother’s slide into depression, which seems to be taking the entire town with it.

Then Cassie, too, is attacked by the supernatural cold. She has to think fast to survive, and her actions cause a rift between her and her husband.

No, life doesn't end after marriage. All hell can break loose at any time.

Christine has been writing science fiction and fantasy for as long as she can remember. She loves to write and it is her dream that others will be inspired by this love and by her stories. Speculative fiction is fun, magical, and imaginative but great speculative fiction is about real people defining themselves through extraordinary situations. Christine writes primarily about people and it is in this way that she strives to make science fiction and fantasy meaningful for everyone.

At the age of 16, Christine was diagnosed with Stargardt's Disease, a condition that effects the retina and causes a loss of central vision. She is now legally blind, but has not let this slow her down or get in the way of her dreams.

In addition to writing, Christine teaches workshops on writing at Savvy Authors. She also does some freelance editing work.

Christine currently lives in the Kansas City area with her husband, Austin, who has been her biggest fan and the key to her success. They have two beautiful children.

It's so embarrassing to admit that I can't remember the last time I even read a book - haha! But thanks for getting me curious about this book!

This sounds like a book my mother in law would like. She loves paranormal stuff. (Have to admit the dog looks creepy on the cover)

I'm sorry, but I got lost when I saw the dog's red eyes LOL Startled me! I've always loved a good series, though!

Thank you for the review, it sounds a bit gruesome but like a series you would just get stuck into! I might check it out on amazon. :)

This sounds like a really good book series, that you are really enjoying. It's really nice to find out about the author too I always connect with a book more if I can read about the author too.

I would definitely not use "gruesome" to describe the books, although I suppose they have a few moments. They're really much more about a quirky, outgoing character with lots of self-doubt trying to survive in a magical world that sometimes seems too big for her. :)

Oh, and my blatant plug: Book 1 is 99 cents this month.
