Book Review-Trouble Under the Mistletoe-Rebecca Barrett

Thursday, November 30, 2017

This is a really well written short story which I am sure anyone would enjoy whether you love cats or not!

Trouble is a black cat who seems to be very intelligent. This cat's natural inquisitiveness coupled with his complete understanding of situations (and people!) makes him a total asset to whoever is watching him at the moment. His owner has left him with Billie Dean for the holidays. Trouble has to decide if Teddy (an old heart throb) is "safe" and then has to ferret out a murderer.

This book would be suitable for younger readers as well as adults!!

About the Book: (from Amazon)

Trouble, the Sherlock of black cat detective, finds himself in Turnout, MS on Christmas Eve. Teddy Adamson, that heart breaker, has just walked back into Billie Dean Bailey’s life. But more dire happenings are going on under the mistletoe. Who ends up dead and why? Was it the maraschino cherries in the Tizzington sisters’ fruit compote? Or was it something more sinister? Find out in this short story of Trouble’s latest escapade in the Familiar Legacy Mystery Series.

About the Author: (from Amazon)

Rebecca Barrett writes historical fiction, post-apocalyptic fiction (writing as Campbell O’Neal), children’s stories, and short stories of life in the South. An avid reader all her life and a product of “front porch” socializing, she became a story-teller at an early age.

Her current novel, Trouble in Dixie (available August 14, 2017), features that handsome, sleek, black cat detective, Trouble. This is a new series with multiple authors (The Cat Women Collective) who follow the antics of super-sleuth Trouble as he lands in first one crime scene then another. Of course, the humans help a little. These romantic mysteries are fun and light hearted and just perfect for a beach read or a rainy day.

I was just reading about this after clicking through. It sounds like a great holiday read and I must read it soon. I usually don't read just pet books but then this isn't your ordinary pet, is it? Trouble sounds like me in the beginning snooping around to see if a person's intentions are good, although that is where we draw the line. He can have the murders to himself. I'll just read about them.

This looks like a good book to throw into the mix of holiday reads. It seems to have a great mix of humor, mystery, mistletoe, CATS... And of course I want to know: "Was it the maraschinos, or something more... SINISTER?"
Thanks for the review!
