I managed to read the third in the series before the second--so what else is new? This can definitely be read as a stand alone.
Robin decides to take up on King John's request that he help fight against the French who are about to invade. He did figure that there might be a catch--he was certainly right. An ambush had been set up by the King--The mother of Robin's 2 children is murdered. Luckily the children were able to escape.
He asks the help of a mighty "fairy" who grants his request----
The ending is kind of sad--There is a lot of action-You will enjoy this book!!
