Book Review-A Fool's Gambit-Celeste Burke

Thursday, October 6, 2022

Anna Celeste Burke is one of my all time favorite authors!! I have read and reviewed most if not all of her books-a lot of them were giveaways which have obviously ended. This is the first book I saw of hers for a very long time-of course I grabbed it.

This is one of the Georgie Shaw books (the 10th I beleive) which centers around Marvelous Marley World. Georgie and Jack were married in a previous one of the series. Max Marley who dreamed up and built this theme park and others-is quite the character!

This is one of the shorter novels in this series but filled with mystery and twists and turns. So what is a fool's gambit-read the book to find out!!

About the Book: (Prolific Works) (you can find this book at Prolificworks.com

When Georgie Shaw met Detective Jack Wheeler, it was love and murder at first sight!

Called to the scene of a murder at Newport beach, two items in the dead man's pocket have Jack calling Georgie in a flash. It doesn't take long to discover there's a link between the dead man and Marvelous Marley World where Georgie's a member of upper management. A game is afoot, but does it have anything to do with the MMW West Coast Chess tournament Georgie's boss, Max Marley, is debuting at one of the entertainment empire's premiere resorts? Is Max's grandson or his longtime friend, a former World Chess Champion, in any danger?

Jack and Georgie are on the case along with help from their friends. Even their Siamese cats, Miles, and Ella do their part to stop the culprits along with Tidbit--a most unusual character. Join them as they race to learn who's behind the trouble in the latest test of their wits and nerve by USA Today & Wall Street Journal best-selling author, Anna Celeste Burke.

Life is an extravaganza! figuring out how to hang tough and make the most of the wild ride is the challenge.

On my way to Oahu to join the rock musician and high school drop-out I had met in San Diego and married in Tijuana, I was nabbed by the police as a runaway. When the police let me go and the rock band broke up, my husband and I had to find another way to survive. Our next stop: Disney World where we trained to be chefs, courtesy of the Walt Disney World University. A GED for my husband and many more years of education landed us in academia at The Ohio State University. Retired now from my role as a professor in social work and behavioral science, I have picked up a long-time interest in writing fiction. I'm still married to the same sweet guy and live with him in the Palm Springs area. In addition to reading and writing fiction, I enjoy painting, hiking, hanging out with my handsome husband and tending to my Siamese kitties.

An award-winning and bestselling author I enjoy snooping into life's mysteries with fun, fiction, & food—California style! My books include the Jessica Huntington Desert Cities Mystery series set in the Coachella Valley near Palm Springs, the Corsario Cove Cozy Mystery series set on California’s Central Coast, and The Georgie Shaw Cozy Mystery series set in Orange County, California--the OC. Coming soon: The Misadventures of Betsy Stark also set here in the Coachella Valley. Find out more at http://www.desertcitiesmystery.com
