Book Review-The Dolan Girls in Old Nebraska-Book 2-S.R. Mallory

Monday, November 29, 2021

As usual I read the second book before the first in this series--but no worries--this can definitely be read as a stand alone. Yes, I definitely will be reading the first-as a matter of fact I already have it!!

There is a lot of action in this book which I should warn is really meant for adults as some of the scenes and language and activities are about subjects that may not be good for younger eyes. The 2 Dolan girls are madames--but they run a house where no rough house is allowed. Both these girls are orphans who were taken in and cared for by the original Madame who willed the house to the girls when she passed away. They were like daughters to her and no, they did not partake in what went on in that house!

What happens to one of them will make you want to cry-but have heart-all turns out roses in the end!

About the Book: (from Amazon)

A Heartwarming, Rip Roaring Western Romance >>>It’s 1800 Old Nebraska, where whorehouse madams, ladies of the night, a schoolmarm, a Pinkerton detective, a Shakespeare-quoting old coot, brutal outlaws, and a horse-wrangler come to life. Added to the mix are adult themes and a colorful land rush, Buffalo Bill and Annie Oakley, bank/train robberies, small town local politics, and of course––ROMANCE.

About the Author: (from Amazon)

A USA TODAY Best Selling author and two-time READERS' FAVORITE GOLD MEDAL winner, S. R. Mallery--as her fans say--"brings history to life."

They say I'm as eclectic as my characters. I've been a singer, a composer, a calligrapher, a quilt artist, and an ESL/Reading teacher. But it is the world of writing historical fiction where I feel I've come "home." It's where I've received various awards and in addition, get to do my second love: Research.

When people talk about the news of the day, or when I listen to music, my overactive imagination likens the story to a similar kind of news in the past, which helps me conjure up scenes between characters I've yet to meet.
