My absolute favorite character is back in this one, Al DeDuca with his wife DeeDee and best friends Jake and Cassie. Al used to be a security guard for a big mob boss-After his boss died--Al went straight, met and married DeeDee. He became a partner with Jake in their PI firm. Al has a heart of gold--until his protective instincts kick in. One other other about Al--he has not lost his Brooklyn accent!
Well the two couples decided to go on vacation--they really hadn't gone anywhere for a long time. They made sure their dogs were safe in a kennel--and went on a European tour which included train rides between venues and countries. It would have been a really nice trip if a truly dysfunctional family hadn't been on the same tour. Then one night when they were traveling to Italy by train--the matriarch of said family was murdered! She was such a miserable person that any one of her children might have done it. Even though Jake and Al were PI's they refused to get involved!
A street thief made a bad mistake by trying to steal Cassie's Nikon camera while she was walking and taking pictures--uh Al's instincts took over--you will laugh when you hear his reaction as they took him away to jail--and when he got out the next day!!
Meanwhile DeeDee was trying to figure out who killed the mean old woman. She stumbles upon clues and does figure it out. Hey, she didn't want to get stuck in Italy until the case was closed!!
Getting to the truth sent Cassie in many different directions, not all leading to the culprit.
I truly enjoyed this one and those recipes--I wish I was a better cook!!

If I were stuck in a foreign county and couldn't leave until a murder was solved, I would panic. I would be worried about all my responsibilities at home and the funds necessary to remain longer than planned in a foreign location.
This looks like a great series! If I were stuck in a foreign country, I'd find the US embassy & beg for help!
I would call my family for help and get some one to find the killer. I have not read any of her books yet.
I would probably be a bit scared but understanding, after all we do want to find out who did it. I love the Murder on the East Coast by Dianne harman.
@tisonlyme143
I would be freaking out and would need something for my nerves.
I would be scared I would be falsely accused of something I did not do. As of yet I have not read any of these books.
If that happened to me, I don't think I'd stop worrying enough to help with the investigation. I would be useless.
I would be seeking advice from attorney's at home and do some praying the murderer would be found soon. I help purchase books for family members, not the reader myself.
If I were stuck in a foreign county and couldn't leave until a murder was solved, I would contact the U.S. Ambassador for that country.

I would be concerned and hope my costs would be covered!
I would hope that my family could send me money to live on, because knowing me, I would only bring enough to last the trip and not expecting anything like this.
If I were stuck in a foreign country I would panic. I would hope the law enforcement and myself could solve the mystery as quick as possible
I would look for help from the American Embassy is possible.
If I were stuck in a foreign county and couldn't leave until a murder was solved, I would contact the U.S. Ambassador for the country and my family.
I would be terrified and unsure what to do!
PANIC! And then call my daughter...she'd know what to do!
Well I guess I would have to just deal with the situation...Call home tell them the situation and hope and pray that the murder is solved quickly..Ask my family for a Western Union and see more of the sights... I have some books in my library but have not gotten to them as yet so I do not know who my fav character will be.. maybe I will get to the books by the holidays!
I'd try to contact the US Embassy for help and pray!
I think, I would try to solve it. I love all of her books.
I'd do my best to find out why, and also how to get out of that situation as soon as I can.
not sure
Dang, that s a tough one. I guess I would go to the American Embassy for safetly
I'd cry! 100%
I'm new to her books but very excited to find such great sounding reads to my tbr pile. I would most certainly be scared but secretly thrilled as I love mysteries of all types. I would most likely put myself in lots of danger but definitely dive right in.
I would go to the embassy. I would be very scared. I like Cassie
Since I never travel, I would just enjoy it. Visit lots of touristy places and eat lots of good food. Maybe I could play cozy sleuth and track down the killer. My favorite is Northwest Cozy.
I think I'd be terrified! I like the Northwest cozy mysteries.
I love this author. I’ve been slowly savoring her books so I don’t run out of them as she writes. If I was stuck in a foreign country, I’d panic. The language barrier I might have between me and someone else would be scary. Not knowing my way around is an even bigger fear. I would hope I could find a cop or someone to guide me as to what to do.
I think, I would do everything to try to solve it
My favorite book is 'Book in Cuba'
I would absolutely panic if that happened to me! It would make for a good story, though :)
I would panic and call home.
I would go to the embassy. I would be praying overtime!
I would be so scared that I would likely cooperate with the authorities.
That is a reason I don't travel to foreign countries, I am worried something would happen and I would be stuck there.
I would go to my country's embassy and ask them for help.
I know I would begin to pray right away and then I know I would probably panic. I would begin to search for help as well.
I can't even imagine what I would do if I couldn't leave foreign country until a murder was solved. If I had enough money I would just contact the US embassy and wait it out. If I didn't have enough money to last me I would definitely panic.
Oh, and I haven't read any of these yet so I don't have a favorite character but I do love cozy mysteries.
