Thursday, November 2, 2017

This book had to be extremely difficult to write. Rachel Ayala managed to take the subject of a person who was born with cerebral palsy and show how perseverance and love can overcome even the most difficult of obstacles.

Bella was coddled since birth--given every treatment known to man. But she wants some independence so she settles into a cottage behind where her twin sister lives with her husband. She has a little dog who is constantly being bullied by a BIG cat who decided to move in with them. Now this cat is not used to being stuck in a house all day--and he is a roamer! Unfortunately he loves to make his way next door to her neighbors house and destroy his workshop!! The cat did not like this guy at all--but Bella did. He was her escort at her sister's wedding and she thought he was perfect, kind and understanding. Until that fateful day when he came pounding at her door threatening her cat!! Her cat threatened him right back!

They started to go out as friends--but not without a whole lot of interference from Bella's overprotective family. Chance began to realize that Bella was a lot more capable then she thought she was-It was beautiful to read. Meanwhile they began to have real feelings about each other---the cat was still destroying that workshop every chance he got!

Will these two be able to overcome all the obstacles in their way-and there were many. Would that ornery cat and Chance ever become friends or at least learn to tolerate each other?

There are many lessons to be learned within these pages. This is definitely a novel where tissues are needed-but one you will not soon forget, if ever!

Will her cat ruin her Christmas chance for love?

Bella Tallahan has always hidden behind her twin sister, Tally. She was born with cerebral palsy and even though she has finished college, she lives vicariously through her sister’s adventures.

It worked, until her sister married writer Lucky Lenigan, and Bella developed a crush on Lucky’s brother—a bad boy with a shady past.

Chance Martin made one mistake growing up—one that landed him in prison. After his release, he spends his days restoring antique furniture and his nights alone.

When Mr. Klutz, Bella’s fat tabby cat, wreaks havoc in the furniture workshop, Chance confronts Bella and finds himself with a dilemma. He’s not the right kind of guy for a woman with disabilities, but at the same time, he can’t get her out of his mind.

Will the trail of destruction left by one naughty cat bring Bella her Christmas chance for love? Can Chance rise above his past and convince Bella that she is truly worth loving? Or will the secret he is keeping horrify Bella enough to send her back into hiding?

Author’s Note: Although part of the Christmas Creek Romance Series, Her Christmas Chance is a complete and standalone story. Bella Tallahan appears in a previous story, Lucky in Laguna, where her sister Tally Tallahan meets and falls in love with Lucky Lenigan.

Deck the Hearts (A Christmas Creek Romance Book 1) by [Ayala, Rachelle]
Deck the Hearts (A Christmas Creek Romance Book 1)

Opposites attract and sparks fly in the delightful small town of Christmas Creek.

Holly Jolly lives for Christmas. It’s the only time of the year, as far as she’s concerned.

Gordon Gills doesn’t need a reason to hate the holiday season. He doesn’t see the point.

Gordon returns to the mansion he inherited and finds Holly making a mess with her Christmas decorations. Unfortunately, his great-aunt’s will stipulates that he must make merry every Christmas if he wants to keep his inheritance.

Holly is determined to infect the grouchy Gordon with every dose of Christmas cheer she can muster and show him what Christmas is really about.

Will Gordon prevail and turn Holly into a Grinch, or will a sprinkling of Christmas magic show Gordon that there’s no fighting love, especially when it’s wrapped up in a gorgeous redheaded package of jolly holly?

We used to have a cat that scared dogs away. My son couldn't let him come in my house because my dog would cry and go in my room under the desk. I think they will be fine and he will, well they, he and the cat will warm up to each other. I'm sure it was hard to write as a person with CP because their muscles inside like stomach etc can also have problems. My special son has Cerebral Palsy. He can walk and everything thankfully but everything physical is harder for him and his arms are effected. One wrist and hand don't work. His legs are a bit but you couldn't tell just by looking at him.

I love a good tear jerker! I love the whole story about the bully cat that moved in. That is too funny! Living with a chronic disease would be tough to write about.

I love how you put that this is one that you won't forget, they are the best type of reads and a sign of amazing writing when a book stays with you and you constantly remember it. So glad you enjoyed the read, even if you needed a box of tissues xx

Thanks for your review! It was a delightful book to write, but yes, lots of research and emotions were spent on it. I'm so glad you liked it.

My chance would be to be able to enjoy Christmas one day. I recently lost my husband who was murdered by his daughters, and lost my own daughter on Christmas Eve 11 years ago, so this is a very difficult holiday for me.
