Book Review-Best In Show (Mina's Adventures Book 6)-Maria Grazia Swan

Thursday, July 28, 2016

I really enjoyed "A Cat to Die For" the 5th in this series by Maria Grazia Swan (see my review here). And I will be reading the first 4 in this series!! I quickly said YES when asked to read this one.

Mina is a character that most of us can relate to. Her always seems to be missing boyfriend drives her to distraction--as does her partner in her Furry Friends Foundation, a no-kill shelter for rescued cats and dogs. She seems to always get involved in trouble with a capital T and this time ended up in the hospital!! Meanwhile a Best in Show cat was left to board at the shelter--but there seems to be a problem. Will everything get resolved? And who is that strange man that dropped off the kitty anyway?

I really think you will enjoy this clean but mad cap cozy. If you haven't read any of this author's books I suggest you start. I was glad that I read Book 5 before Book 6--there is a continuation here of sorts-although you could read it as a stand alone.

About the Book: (from Amazon)

Mina Calvi, Italian transplant to Southern California, thinks her love life might finally come together, just as her professional life has. Her Furry Friends Foundation, a no-kill shelter for rescued cats and dogs, is a success, and Mina hopes she may find a loving forever home for her-self, in the arms of Diego Moran, her elusive, frustratingly mysterious, on again-off again, lover.

When a seemingly innocent night out with friends lands Mina in a hospital bed and Diego undercover, and not the covers Mina wants him to be under, Mina has to draw on all her new-found maturity, and all her supportive friends for strength.

Meanwhile, a Best in Show cat takes up residence at the Ritzy Cats B&B, Mina’s other venture, setting Mina on the trail of a suspicious character who might not have the cat's best interests at heart.

Add a Matchmaker to the Stars, a temperamental Italian chef and the usual menagerie of people and pets, stir it all up and you have an entertaining, hard to put down romantic tale of suspense.

About the Author: (from Amazon)

I love to hear from my readers. thank you

National Bestselling author Maria Grazia Swan was born in Italy, but this rolling stone has definitely gathered no moss. She lived in Belgium, France, Germany, in beautiful Orange County, California where she raised her family, and is currently at home in Phoenix, Arizona--but stay tuned for weekly updates of Where in the World is Maria Grazia Swan?

As a young girl, her vivid imagination predestined her to be a writer. She won her first literary award at the age of fourteen while living in Belgium. As a young woman Maria returned to Italy to design for--ooh-la-la--haute couture. Once in the U.S. and after years of concentrating on family, she tackled real estate. These days her time is devoted to her deepest passions: writing and helping people find happiness.

Maria loves travel, opera, good books, hiking, and intelligent movies (if she can find one, that is). When asked about her idea of a perfect evening, she favors stimulating conversation, Northern Italian food and perfectly chilled Prosecco--but then, who doesn't?

Maria has written short stories for anthologies, articles for high profile magazines and numerous blogs tackling love and life.

This sounds like a perfect book for our Granddaughter. She's 13 and read an entire book on Saturday. She loves animals and rescues especially - this would be appropriate for her?

I appreciate books in series that can be read alone but also do continue the story a bit. Sounds like a fun story!

Thank you so much for liking my books and my cats. I've been a cat lover all my life, as I get older I decided to spread the love and so I work 'the cat room' at the Home Fur Good shelter that inspired my books..Thanks again.

This book sounds like a great read. She must get frustrated when her boyfriend always disappears. That can be infuriating.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that your favorite animal is a cat, Michele! :)

Sounds like a fun book, especially since cats are involved! Since the author had traveled all over, I am sure her books reflect that which probably adds a lot to each story.

As a cat lover, anything that mentions the possibility of a cat gets my attention. It must be an exciting adventure. :)
