E-Book-3-WW-Murdered by Country Music-Dianne Harman-Ends 6/23

Tuesday, May 24, 2016

It was the best of times and the worst of times--from approx 1969 - 1972. I was around 19 or 20 when Woodstock happened and my friend and I and our then boyfriends had tickets to Woodstock. Our boyfriends made it there but since both us girls had to work that day-we were going to leave from my Mom's apartment later in the day. My Mom had other ideas--she, it seemed had been listening to the traffic reports--back ups--people camped at the sides of roads--so she did what she had to do, I guess--she literally paid us off NOT to go. She sent us off (with my dog) to go stay at our boyfriends apartment in Boston. By now we were hearing what a mess it was up there--MUDDY, wet, not enough to eat or drink--and of course since it was the time of hippies, free love etc not to mention drugs (pot, LSD) (non of which either my friend or I were into)--we were resigned. Then we got that knock on the door--another friend come to tell us that a guy our boyfriends knew hung himself in jail. Kind of put a damper on things--but that was when even being caught with 1 joint could land you a life sentence. Like I said--it was the best of times and the worst of times. I did manage to go to a couple of other outdoor concerts-but truthfully I much prefer going to an INDOOR venue where there is ample water, food and NO MUD!!!

The outdoor concert depicted in this novel is held in the desert (NO MUD) at someone's ranch. No one was allowed to do or bring in drugs and the owner of the property really did try to make sure that didn't happen. And there were a lot of food trucks with lots of differing foods who were invited to be vendors and were set up in one specific area. Well one of the vendors was The Red Pony Food Truck and another was French Food Obsession food truck. Now these guys were fierce competitors--not friends at all!
Jacques is murdered and the blame seems to be heading straight to John and his assistant Max. They live at the compound shared by 4 friends and the black lab who refuses to leave the compound without his pink booties! That ground is much too hot for those sensitive paws and for reduced rates always cook all their meals.

There are several suspects and Marty-art appraiser extraordinaire and also lives at the compound--is bound and determined to find the real killer! Her police detective fiance does help a bit as does her psychic sister. So who is the killer--not who you will suspect and that's all I'm going to say. Lot's of good food in this one-and the recipes are at the end of the book!

Dianna Harman will graciously be giving 3 lucky winners copies of this e-book--just fill out the Rafflecopter form down below and maybe you will be one of the lucky three--World Wide.

About the Book (from Amazon)

Seven time best selling Amazon All-Star author does it again!

What part did mollies and Fireball whiskey play in a murder at a country music festival held outside of Palm Springs, California? Why was the celebrity chef, Jacques Rushon, owner of the French Food Obsession food truck murdered? The suspects at the top of the sheriff's list are Marty Morgan's friends John, the owner of The Red Pony food truck, and his assistant, Max.

Or was it the ex-wife who was owed back child support? Food truck competitors John and Max? The owner of the White Stallion Ranch where the music festival was held? Jacques' drug dealer? Jacques' partner in the food truck, Ned? Or Ned's wife, Rita? In order to save her own life, Marty has to solve the murder mystery. Fortunately, she has a little help from Jeff, her police detective fiance.

This fast-paced cozy mystery gives the reader a behind the scenes look at music festivals and food trucks. As always, there's lots of food, recipes, and a black Labrador retriever who refuses to give up his pink booties!

Thank you so much for the lovely review and your experience with Woodstock. I well remember that time and if I'd been living on the East Coast, I'm sure I would have tried to be there. For sure it was a seminal moment in a baby boomer's memory!

I've read lots of your book reviews but I have to say I like this one the best so far! Thanks for sharing your personal experience. My mom always talked about how she would have loved to have gone to Woodstock but she was only 16 and there was no way her dad was letting her go.
