Book Review-CRITICAL VULNERABILITY (An Aroostine Higgins Novel-Book 1)-Melissa F. Miller

Wednesday, March 11, 2015

I have read 2 of the author's books in the Sasha McCandless legal thriller series and loved them both. If you didn't see them:

Inadvertent Disclosure
Irreparable Harm

This is another one that it took me a while to get to and I am pretty sure I got it from my own funds-or maybe back then it was free on Amazon--who knows--my age is showing!!

At any rate this book will catch you from the first page and not let you go until the very end. It is definitely a legal mystery thriller!! What could happen if a security devise could be constructed that no one besides the person making it could hack? And what if there were some really bad guys who didn't want to get caught in the cross hairs of a Federal trial? Can Aroostine, an assistant US attorney, get to the bottom of all if this. Will her marriage be salvaged and can she cause a mistrial so that the trial can begin again?

About the Book: (from Amazon)

Sabotage. Arson. Attempted murder. Dealing with terrible crimes is Aroostine Higgins’s job as an assistant US attorney in the Department of Justice’s elite Criminal Division. Except this time, she’s the victim—and the perpetrator is a faceless mastermind who’s derailing her life. He makes her latest court case vanish, he sets her home ablaze, and he nearly kills her when she undergoes surgery, all from behind the terrifying veil of anonymity.

Aided by a brilliant computer programmer, this mysterious and lethal man can access every detail of the attorney’s life. There’s no havoc he can’t wreak with a few dangerous keystrokes—and nothing he won’t do to achieve his goals. When the person she loves most is abducted, Roo must risk her career—and her life—to save him.

About the Author: (from Amazon)

USA TODAY Bestselling Author Melissa F. Miller was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Although life and love led her to Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and, ultimately, South Central Pennsylvania, she secretly still considers Pittsburgh home.

In college, she majored in English literature with concentrations in creative writing poetry and medieval literature and was STUNNED, upon graduation, to learn that there's not exactly a job market for such a degree. After working as an editor for several years, Melissa returned to school to earn a law degree. She was that annoying girl who loved class and always raised her hand. She's worked for major international law firms, clerked for a federal judge, and ultimately started a two-person law firm with her lawyer husband.

Powered by coffee, she writes her legal thrillers while pretending not to hear her three young children wreaking havoc. She has a very lazy dog and three hyperactive gerbils.

I'm sitting here trying to think if I've read a legal thriller before. I know I've read thrillers (a fave) and I know I've read legal, but together I'm not sure? It sounds good though!

You know... I don't usually have time to read,.. But I brought 4 books to Las Vegas with me. I read one of them but the other 3 are so bad I can't get into them. The Irreparable Harm book sounds very interesting to me.

I don't think I've ever heard of a legal thriller before. Or maybe I have. Is John Grisham considered a legal thriller author? In any case, this does sound very interesting!

This is my kind of book. I had to laugh at her bio about her writing and basically pretending the kids aren't there.
