E-Book Review/Giveaway (3)-Omega Method #5 Gourmet Protein Shakes-US-Jessica Dumanch-Ends 10/31

Thursday, October 2, 2014

I remember when I joined a gym, a long time ago, and wisely hired one of their trainers so I didn't do major harm to myself, he would insist that I get a protein shake after each workout. He would even pay for them! I was not a very compliant exerciser and that is putting it mildly! He had me slimmed down in no time flat--but then he left that gym and I ended up hurting myself -spent quite a bit of time with physical therapists--have not returned to exercise since! But other then the fact that I remember the pain I remember those protein shakes. So when Jessica Dumanch approached me to review her book--a cookbook actually of gourmet protein shakes-I said okay. So many of you exercise A LOT and I know you drink protein shakes (or you better start) but what I liked best about these recipes--you will know whether they are good for Diabetics, Gluten Intolerance etc. There is lots of other great information as well in this little cookbook. Once I get myself an immersion blender (no room for a full size one in my apartment)-I will be trying some of these out for myself.

Here are 2 of the recipes:

KEY LARGO

chocolate ∆ coconut cream ∆ lime
Paleo/Primal/GF/Diabetes-Friendly
8 oz of unsweetened coconut milk
1/8 teaspoon key lime oil
1 tablespoon cacao powder
1 scoop Neocell Collagen Sport Bavarian Chocolate Whey Protein Powder
2 tablespoons coconut cream
1 teaspoon coconut flakes
1 packet stevia
Lime for garnish

Place all ingredients except the coconut flakes and lime in the blender and mix. Then place key largo in a posh glass and add some shaved coconut flakes and a lime wedge and enjoy.
Key Largo is a gourmet protein shake bursting with the flavors of the Florida Keys. I've only just discovered the glory that is known as Key Lime Pie, and when I put a scoop of coconut cream and a drizzle of chocolate on top, I knew that I could die and go to heaven content. This gourmet shake tastes exactly like that glorious moment minus the guilt.

IT'S CALLED CELEBRATION

strawberry ∆ orange ∆ vanilla ∆ lime
Paleo/Primal/GF/Diabetes-Friendly
8 oz unsweetened coconut milk
7 strawberries freshly cut
2 scoops of Arctic Zero Frozen Dessert in Orange Cream
2 drops of lime extract
1 scoop of Neocell Collagen Sport Whey Protein Powder in French Vanilla
1 stevia packet

Place all ingredients in a blender and serve cold
My sister and I love to quote movies all day, and the Wedding Crashers is one of our favorites to quote… and on that note, this gourmet protein shake tastes like a handful of Skittles, or a bowl of Fruity Pebbles… Saturday morning cartoons anyone?

Don't they sound good!! The Neocell brand is one I like as well--I love their Bursts-I did a review of them a while back. Just remember that before you start any exercise or diet to always check with your doctor first! (This author has also put this in the forward of her cookbook!!)

My husband drinks protein shakes, but he doesn't do anything fancy with them. I love that recipe and might make him one.

Omegas are very important. As we move away from "real" food, we often need to supplement.

I go back and forth on the protein shake thing but I do feel better after I have one when I workout.

I really like the info regarding what dietary types these recipes are good for. I've got to get back to my protein shakes too!

That's too bad that your trainer left and you ended up hurting yourself. I admit, I use the treadmill, but need to get going with some strength training. Protein shakes are great not just for post workout recovery, they keep me feeling full for a couple hours! I'll have to try one of these recipes for something different! :)

Yummy book I'm all about a protein shake.

My husband usually take protein bars in his gym bag to eat after a workout. I don't think they have smoothies at his gym, or I bet he'd be all over one! I do love a good smoothie myself, and if it is full of protein, all the better!

These look great, though I prefer yogurt to protein powder. Lime and coconut sounds divine!

My youngest is gluten-free. While he doesn't drink protein shakes I do love seeing more recipes and products become available that are suitable for him.
