Book Review - A Chapter Finished - Ken Maxon

This short book of poetry will grab you heart and not let go. As I was reading it I forgot that the writer was male and once I remembered I thought why am I so surprised? Men have been writing sonnets to their lovers for years--all the way through the ages. Some of the best writers of poetry were men! The introduction is beautiful

"Were you ever to willingly place your heart in my hand, I
would never knowingly let any harm come to it. If you
were ever to willingly place your heart in my hand, I
could die peacefully knowing I earned that much love
from you. If we grew old together, if you were to take
your last breath before me, I would take mine as well.
Partly because of heartbreak knowing you would
never return, partly because my purpose here would
be fulfilled and partly because you might need me on
the other side and I would want to be there for you if
you did."

It is not often that I pick up a book of poetry anymore but I just remembered after reading this how much I actually enjoy it.

About the Book (from Amazon)

You can't have Hope if you aren't Loving and you can't be Loving if you don't have Hope. Hope alone can convey several feelings, covering the spectrum of happiness and joy through depression if you lack it. “I Hope today will be a good day” or “I Hope my family and friends are alright” if you are worried about them. Of course, on the far side of the spectrum, you could “Hope something happens to someone” or even “Hope you win the lottery”. It's subtle differences at times in the feelings and meaning conveyed when expressing Hope. If you are a Loving person by nature, Hope will usually be expressed as an uplifting feeling that brings joy to everyone around you.

Good to know! I'm not much of a poetry reader myself, but I do like to pick it up once in a while, especially when I'm feeling down or melancholy because it often speaks to me during those times.
