Book Review - Mind's Eye - Douglas E Richards

Thursday, January 30, 2014

I had previous reviewed one of Douglas E Richards novels before "The Cure" ---it was certainly a ride I will never forget!. When asked if I would read and review Mind's Eye I said yes quicker then a New York Second. Am I ever glad I did. This book caught me from the first sentence and didn't let go until the last. I certainly did not guess what the ending would be nor who the real bad guy was.

Imagine waking up in a dumpster with no memory who you are or how you got there but know somehow that someone is out to kill you. This is what happens to Nick Hall--who also discovers to his dismay and possible sanity that he can hear EVERYTHING everyone is thinking!! Or almost everyone--then realizes he is also telepathic to a select few, and can access the internet with his mind and view it as if it were in front of him.

I want you all to read the first few chapters-click below-and tell me that you are not caught up almost immediately in this cloak and dagger techno thriller (if you dare that is!) I read this in one sitting--just couldn't let go--If I could give this book greater then a 5 I would!

About the Book: (from Amazon)

The breathtaking new science-fiction/technothriller from the New York Times bestselling author of WIRED.

"Richards is a tremendous new talent." --Stephen Coonts, 17-time New York Times bestselling author of Pirate Alley

When Nick Hall wakes up in a dumpster--bloodied, without a memory, and hearing voices in his head--he knows things are bad. But they're about to get far worse. Because he's being hunted by a team of relentless assassins. Soon Hall discovers that advanced electronics have been implanted in his brain, and he now has two astonishing abilities. He can surf the web using thoughts alone. And he can read minds. But who inserted the implants? And why? And why is someone so desperate to kill him?

As Hall races to find answers, he comes to learn that far more is at stake than just his life. Because his actions can either catapult civilization to new heights--or bring about its total collapse.

Extrapolated from actual research on thought-controlled web surfing, Mind's Eye is a smart, roller-coaster ride of a thriller. One that raises a number of intriguing, and sometimes chilling, possibilities about a future that is just around the corner.

"Recalls the best of Michael Crichton. A keep-you-up-all-night thriller. Intense action, mind-blowing concepts, & breathtaking twists. Enjoy the ride." --Boyd Morrison, bestselling author of The Vault, on WIRED.

"Will keep you turning the pages all night long." --Douglas Preston, #1 New York Times Bestselling Author of Impact, on The Cure.

Read the first couple of chapters here-you will be hooked!!

I like the 'look inside' feature. For me that can make or break a book. So can reviews!! Thank you for the introduction to this one, it is new to me, as is the author. Happy Thursday to you!!

I love how you get into books & get lost in them the way you do. I don't think I've ever had that happen to me.

I have never heard the phrase - faster than a New York second. You must have really loved that first book! This is one my oldest son would love to read. I will have to check out this author's other books as my son is hard to buy for when it comes to books.

Oh, I think that would be awful to read everyone's minds! Sounds like it would keep me agitated. The book sounds good though.

I would love to be able to access the internet with my mind and not a computer. How great would that be and believe me, I think that day is coming. Sounds like a real interesting book.

I like when books letg you read the first bit to make sure you can get hooked before you buy it. It is easy to do this in book stores but not online until this came about.
