Book Review - Taming Jenna - Charlene Raddon

This book kept me reading on my computer no less until 11:30 at night! I just had to know the ending. This is the story of a head strong woman who learns at a young age not to trust men-or so she thinks! Bound and determined to find the father who disappeared from her Mom's and her life 15 years prior she finagles a job from the Pinkerton Agency. She thinks her Dad might be in Utah and this is where she will be bounty hunting, to earn the money she needs to stay in Utah until she finds her father.

I found myself shaking my head at some of the antics and worried at some of the others. She keeps bumping into a man who is hunting the same person. She outsmarts him at "almost" every turn. He finally takes her home to where he owns a hotel run by his sister and her family. Then she finds out that the man she has been hunting and did catch is not the guilty party!

Will they catch the real bad guys? Will they ever see eye to eye? Will Jenna ever find her Father? Will there be happy endings for all? I think I'll let you find that out for yourself! Enjoy this historical romance--I know I did.

NEW RELEASE .........

THE WRONG MAN

Deserted by her father at the tender age of seven, Jenna Leigh-Whittington had taught herself to ride, shoot, brawl…and steer clear of the opposite sex. But now, in a lonely Utah canyon, the Pinkerton agent has drawn her gun on a rugged stranger—only to discover that, far from the dangerous outlaw she’d been tracking, he is Branch McCauley, hired gun…and the most irresistible rascal ever to tempt and torment a woman!

THE RIGHT WOMAN

If there’s one thing McCauley trusts less than a female, it’s a female who packs a six-gun. But what a woman! Vowing to bring the sensuous hellcat to heel, McCauley has no inkling that their passionate battle of wills has just begun. Taming Jenna will be the most seductive—and satisfying—job he’s ever taken on.

About the Author

Charlene began her writing life at an early age, often penning stories where she cast herself as the heroine. It was after college when she dug out her old college typewriter and started her first novel, which came from a spirited dream she'd had the pervious night.

While that book never sold, her second novel did. Tender Touch became a Golden Heart finalist and earned her an agent who signed the book, and two others, in a three book contract with Kensington Publishing. Kensington went onto publish five of Charlene's western historical romances: Taming Jenna (1994); Tender Touch (1994 Golden Heart Finalist); Forever Mine (1996 Romantic Times Magazine Reviewer's Choice Award Nominee and Affaire de Coeur Reader/Writer Poll finalist); To Have and To Hold (1997); and as Rachel Summers, The Scent of Roses (1999).

Charlene took a break from publishing, but not from writing. A Kiss and A Dare is Charlene's first paranormal romance.

Divine Gamble is Charlene's latest work and won first place in the western historical category of the 2010 Romance Through The Ages
contest.

When Charlene isn't writing, she loves to travel, do genealogy, digital scrapbooking and dyes eggs in the Ukrainian style. And she enjoys camping and fishing with her husband in the Utah wilderness.

You give great reviews and I enjoy reading them. I don't think this is a book for me but has nothing to do with your writing just not my style.

I bought Taming Jenna as soon as I finished Scent of Roses by Ms. Raddon. Was so glad to see the writing style remained as smooth and enjoyable, but without falling into the trap I've seen elsewhere, where the author almost rewrites the same storyline over and over again. I've found a new favorite author:)

Thank you, ladies. I'm thrilled to find so many who like the idea of a strong heroine who can put the hero through his paces and make him work to win her heart. Taming Jenna is a fun, sexy read. I loved writing it.

I love books that have strong female protagonists like this one does. I'm sure waiting to see what her search for her father turns out like adds to an air of suspense.

I want to read this one. It is my kind of book. I am curious as to why the first book did not sell, she is obviously very talented. I will be looking for all of her books.

What a great story line. I love the cover photo for this also. I read the author's bio and she sounds like a very interesting woman and I would love to read the book about her dream.

Hi Susan. Thanks for dropping by.

Pam, you should get your chance to read my book that started with a dream next year, if all goes well. I'm re-writing it and hope to see it published then.

Jennifer, the first book, which is called Time Weaver, didn't sell because it was a time travel and they just weren't selling at that time. But I think it would sell very well now, which is why I'm reworking it. The original was written in the 1980's and had to be updated. Of all my books, I love it the most.
