Book Review - Traveling for Love - Becky Due

Tuesday, July 16, 2013

Having been in Amanda's shoes more times then I can count (other then the divorce) I could definitely feel for this character. Amanda has no real conception of why her relationships don't work out-until she finally comes to the realization that she has to like and enjoy her own company first and foremost. She allows the men to "take over" and just wallows in pity. When her husband divorces her Amanda is forced to start over. She moves in with a friend, gets a job and proceeds to live her life. She has always wanted to travel and the job she now has at the travel agency gives her the impetus to do just that. When her new boy friend, who was supposed to go on this trip with her cancels at the last second--Amanda goes by herself. She meets other men the more she travels, each one a little better then the last--will she finally meet Mr. Right? Well, sorry about this--but you will just have to read this book to find out!! Yes, I did enjoy this book and think you will as well.

About the Book:(from the back cover)

Amanda's life is suddenly turned upside down when her husband tells her he wants a divorce. She realizes she no longer knows who she is - her life revolved around her husband. At age 40, she finds herself divorced, childless, living in an apartment with a roommate, with little education and no career path. Amanda starts dating, finds employment as a travel agent, and begins the search of finding herself and--with a little luck--the right man.
This book can be purchased at Amazon and Barnes & Nobel

Sounds like a good book and quick summer read. I would read it, as long as there are no explicit sex scenes and vulgarity in it.

sounds like an interesting book!!!
I really hate divorces; i hope everyone will get their suitable partner at first and one should marry after attaining mental maturity.

This looks like something I could really relate to! It's true...when things just keep not working out, sometimes you have to evaluate yourself. Sounds like another great recommendation!

It sounds like this book carries an important message for everyone--that the path to happiness is to find it within yourself.

Oh! My confession is that I love books like this! Kind of like why I love "Sex and the City." Love is definitely hard to find. So I could relate!

I would love to read this. We all need to learn to like ourselves and stand up for ourselves. I like that this one seems to push that.

I do like the love story novel, especially the romance that's going on with both the characters? Sometimes makes me anxious because I have to make sure I keep reading the book or else I'll be hanging.
