Reader’s Anonymous!

Wednesday, June 12, 2013

I often get comments asking me how I can read so much—that has a very easy answer—I love to read, have always loved to read and will always love to read! I am addicted to reading! You can thank my parents for this—both of them would read to me when I was very young—even then I would tell them “Read this one twice—this one 4 times etc, and they usually did!! I’m one of those people who will read the back of a cereal box if there is nothing else available. I try to read the directions on bottles but the old eyes are not what they used to be—I really should invest in a good magnifying glass!

Yes, there are books that I end up saying “of course I will review that one” that I don’t always like, but then everyone’s taste is different. I also will occasionally buy a book which –well let’s just say-I should not have bought it! Everyone on line and off was telling me how much they really liked that one with the Gray Tie on the cover—I blushed through the entire book and honestly did not like it!! Oh, I love a juicy historical romance, a medical thriller, a contemporary romance (once in a while), murder and mayhem, suspense, comedy—I will even read self help books (as little as possible) or the occasional non fiction book—but I’ll pick up a cereal box before I ever pick up another of the Grey Tie genre!!!!

I am also partial to paperbacks. They are easier to hold then a hardcover at this stage of my life. I have had to download books in order to review them on my computer—NO LIKE—but will do it if absolutely no other choice. I find it very uncomfortable to sit at my desk and to have to constantly have my hand on the mouse to change the pages-I am a very fast reader!! I still do not have a kindle but am still trying to win one—maybe I wouldn’t mind reading on that since at least I could lie comfortably in my bed while doing so.

So there you have it—and yes—you all will still be seeing book reviews, spotlights etc on my blog—reading is my first love (after my cat!!!)

It is such a pleasure a habit I had nearly eradicated with the kids around but reading your reviews has me with a book always at hand and a reading list going!
Thank you

You and me both! I could read all day if I had the time. I wish I could make money just reading! I won't read the "gray tie" ones either! Please...there is enough abuse in the world without glorifying it!

Oh goodie....maybe this means Brody will read like you!!! I'm not the reader, but we read to Brody every night and sometimes during the day!!! Thanks for the encouragement.

I love to read too! I find I don't have as much time to enjoy books like I used to. There's always a child or a hubby interrupting!

I'm with you on paperbacks. Much easier to navigate (and I prefer real books over electronics). Books smell so good!

Wishing you a lovely day.
xoxo

I spent half my life at library and raised three great readers in my kids. Reading is everything to me.

Reading is easy when you're reading something you enjoy. Before I had my daughter I would sometimes read a book a day!

hi my name is becca and i'm addicted to books. I am also lucky in that my younger brothers a couple years ago went half on a NOOK for me now i can read even when there is any power go me. also like you I have reviewed books I don't much care for and will be honest enough to tell you while being respectful to the author who so graciously ask me to read.

I love reading too; I just don't get to it enough to be able to do reviews. Maybe if I made that commitment, I'd force myself to make the time!
PS--I didn't bother with the book with the gray tie; heard too many things about it beforehand.

I love to read too. I wish I had more time to read. I just received a Kobo and I hope I can use it more soon.

I love reading as well. I don't get to read as often as I used to and I miss it. My son is a BIG reader he is like you he will read the back of a cereal box...lol. I haven't read the series you are talking about for the same reason. I don't really care for steamy books I would rather read murder and mayhem.

You and I love the same types of books. If we were closer, we could easily share. I will sometimes grab one in a different area too just to check it out. I have never read the grey tie book and do not plan to. I like clean romance novels though!

I am with you! I love love love to read...just about everything. I was kinda shocked at the grey tie series. But I will read almost any genre. If I need a huge magnifying glass in my old age so be it. Just keep the books coming.

I love to read too! In fact, there are some things I can't do without reading (if I don't have someone to talk to--my other compulsion) like eating or waiting.

I envy you :D I wish i'm a good reader just like you. I find it boring to read but I salute those who loves to read books because they learn a lot of things and life lesson experienced through the characters or authors. And they learned more vocabularies too :)

Love this! I'm avid reader, too! One of the reasons that I love blogging is that is given me the opportunity to read more since I've begun doing book reviews. It's easy to get bogged down with life and get away from reading things not specifically work or school-related.

That is so awesome that you love to read books so much. Definitely a bookworm you are. :)

Books are like watching movies in your head! I love the library but of course when it comes down to it, the book has to capture me the first chapter for me to keep going. I just don't have a lot of patience now.

I truly envy you. I can tell that you are so smart the way you left comments in my blogs because I know you read the post no matter how long and uninteresting it may be :-)

I admit, I was a bookworm since elementary up to college (I work in the library) then, when I started working, I just lost the enthusiasm to read :-(

I can't even finish a 100 pages in a day. Sad. I will challenge myself to read again and you will be my inspiration :-)

I LOVE to read!! I don't get to read as much as I used to because I have 3 kids and I homeschool, but every chance I get, I take advantage of it.
I didn't read the 50 Shades books. I'm not interested in soft porn books. :)
I don't review ebooks. They have no real value and it's a lot of work for something that you can't hold! I want an old school kindle, too bc my phone screen is too small. :)
I love checking up on your reviews!

To be honest with you, I do admire your passion in reading, that reminds me of myself when I was a little girl. I love to read, all the books in the house were already read except for the dictionary. I've learned so much just by reading those books. However, for some reason, my passion subsided and now I am lost in this world. I blamed myself for not reading more and let the things around me neglect it.

i like how you love to read, hopefully someone will going to let you win that kindle fire for it would be an awesome way for you to read more than one book.

Too bad for me, I stopped reading books when I got married 'coz I got occupied with so many things now compared before. I wish i could read more books sometimes just like you.

I prefer hardcovers because they are sturdier but paperbacks are more practical. Oh well.

I think that if you really like to read you will find a way. All the people that complain of not having time they just don't want to make the time for it. Believe me I know, I used to be one of them. Now I read as much as I can whenever possible!
