Marketing – HELP!!!!!

Saturday, November 3, 2012

How do you get what you are selling to the people who want to purchase? It is not easy at best and does take trial and error. Why can’t you get people to buy—you advertise all over the place-spend money on “lists”—throw additional money all over the place to no avail. It is enough to make a grown person cry-or at least give up which many, be they a direct seller, like many of my readers or a corporation do. So, what is the trick? Honestly I am not sure.

One thing for certain-it is hard work. There are entire departments in corporations devoted to promoting new products-they are called “The Marketing Department”. Just think of the Pharmaceutical Industry—TV commercials, handing out free samples to doctors sometimes even billboards and ads in magazines which are seen by people who might want their product.-anything they have to do, they do to get their product in front of the consumer. But let’s face facts here—they have a VERY large budget! They also hire people who have degrees in marketing---

I took a marketing class way back when I was getting my 2 year accounting degree. I admittedly do not remember much at this point-but sincerely wish I did. What I do remember is a girl in the class who was a relative of that older gentleman with the absolutely horrible voice who was the owner of Carvel and made is own commercial!! That poor relative was trying to find a way to CHANGE that commercial!! Strange thing is--that marketing ploy worked like a charm--nobody ever forgot it!!

Maybe I should spend just a little more money before I give up my direct sales altogether? It wouldn’t hurt in this day and age to earn a marketing degree-it may be the only answer.

I don't think there is a sure fire way...or everyone would be doing it. Hard work and a never die attitude probably do more than any software.

I wish I'd paid attention to a LOT of things while growing up. Marketing and accounting being two fo them. Today I'm doing the accounting for my husbands company. Who knew!

Trial and error. Not every marketing tool works best for each individual. Also the old adage of you need to spend in order to earn... not the best, but I feel it still-holds true. We each just need to find our own marketing niche.

I've been thinking about this a lot too lately. I'd love to take a marketing course but I don't know when I'd find the time.

My sister is in the middle of taking a few marketing classes and she has been telling me I need to also. She has learned so much, she said what you would think would be obvious really isn't that simple.
