Review of Feline Greenies Smart Bites for Cats

Saturday, August 4, 2012

Imagine my surprise when I opened the door the other day and a box was sitting there with 5 bags of the new feline Greenies treats!!

“Nashville, TN—The Greenies Brand, makers of the #1 veterinary recommended Feline Greenies Dental Treats is introducing a new line of delicious treats for cats that provide targeted health benefits. Feline Greenies Smartbites Treats, including Hairball Control, Digestive Care and Healthy Skin & Fur formulas, are being introduced at pet specialty stores in the United States and Canada.”

Feline Greenies Smartbites Treats feature a variety of naturally derived ingredients that have been researched and developed to deliver a specific benefit. “Fiberblend” formula, found in the Hairball control formula, is a combination of plant based fibers that help to minimize hairball formation and promote healthy digestion. Coconut Meal found in the Digestive Care formula, is a source of natural fiber, which helps to sustain healthy digestion by supporting good bacteria in the digestive tract. The fish Oils and the whole ground flaxseed in the Healthy Skin & Fur formula provide a naturally rich source of omega-3 fatty acids that help nourish skin and maintain healthy fur”

But none of all that good stuff matters if your cat does not like them! So I tested them out.

I had almost run out of the treats I normally buy for Baby so was able to test them out almost immediately. Baby LOVED them!! They are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside-just like she likes them. I started with the Chicken flavor Healthy Skin and Fur variety (with fish oil)—they didn’t last long—then opened the salmon flavored Healthy skin and Fur variety with fish oil)-I wasn’t very hopeful with this one since Baby is not partial to Fishy ones—but she gobbled them up—Just this morning-with trepidation I gave her the Digestive Care (Salmon flavor with Coconut Meal)—no problems—Since Baby does not seem to get hairballs (knock on wood) I gave the two hairball packets to a woman at work who has two cats.

Now she really didn’t think her cats would like them---was she ever surprised!! Even the most finicky of cats love these!!

I wish they were wheat free. My Molly has a terrible wheat allergy.

You are quite right if your pet doesn't eat it then it doesn't matter how good it is for them.
