Book Review-The Inside Passage-Carl Brookins

Thursday, July 21, 2016

Having read and enjoyed 2 of Carl Brookins novels before I knew I wanted to read this one. It is a totally different style from those two, The Case of the Yellow Diamond (see my review here) and The Purloined Painting (see my review here). This is an adventure, mystery thriller with multiple twists and turns-one you won't want to put down! I know I couldn't and didn't-I read it in one sitting. It does start a bit slowly but watch out--it picks up speed very quickly!! I definitely recommend this book!! Now i want to read the other 2 books in this series.

About the Book: (from Amazon)

The Inside Passage is an adventure thriller set primarily on the waters between Campbell River, British Columbia, and Seattle, Washington. It is the story of one man’s successful effort to find justice and peace after the murder of his wife and her friend by ruthless gun runners. It offers moving descriptions of magnificent mountain scenery and the sea, storms, explosive action, murder, loss, love, and redemption.

About the Author: (from Amazon)

Retired from a local university, I've entered a new career as a reviewer and author. The Michael Tanner/Mary Whitney sailing adventure series (INNER PASSAGES, A SUPERIOR MYSTERY, OLD SILVER) are my initial foray.

Now I'm branching out with a new series featuring a Twin Cities detective named Sean NMI Sean. His first story is THE CASE OF THE GREEDY LAWYERS. I live and work in Minnesota and travel with that nefarious band of authors called the Minnesota Crime Wave.Sean's current case is THE CASE OF THE PURLOINED PAINTING, having to do with WWII souvenir retrieval.

My brother-in-law lives up near that region so I can visualize the setting. Sounds like a beautiful location for a story, even if things do get deadly.
