Signed Book GA/Review-The Case of the Yellow Diamond-(A Sean Sean Mystery)-Carl Brookins-Ends 1/25

Monday, December 28, 2015

Sean Sean is definitely not your usual Private Investigator--his methods are unusual and besides--he is short. He kind of reminds me of Columbo--remember him? Always deferential and low key--but would hold on with both hands until he either understood something or figured out who done it. Well, Sean Sean is that kind of investigator and he is not afraid to ask his many acquaintances to help him either. One way or another he was going to find out who was sabotaging his clients trip to Yap Island-and who was killing off the family members and more important-WHY.

About the Book: (from Amazon)

A dead man on the floor of his office in Minneapolis won’t lead P.I. Sean Sean to journey to Yap Island to protect his new client. Bombs in lawyers’ cars only jostle him. This short investigator knows the value of research and asking questions in the right places. World War II, Asian diamonds and concrete in Des Moines combine to almost destroy a Minnesota family. In the end, Sean detects flaws in the plans and brings down a criminal enterprise.

I am not sure that this is my thing, but like always, I would definitely give it a try and see! I have really slowed down lately on my reading, but hopefully when January kicks in with all those cold days, I can snuggle up and finish some of these books!

This sounds like the kind of story line that always hooks me to the point where I have to finish it in one sitting...even if hours upon hours go by! Your Columbo reference is great! Makes me want to read it more. :)

Sounds like a great thriller and one my Hubs would like. We have been doing a lot of audio books while traveling, I wonder if this will ever come out in audio?

His name is Sean Sean? How odd, but perfectly suited to an interesting character. Got to dive into this one.

The one about the Great Train Robbery looks cool. I'm assuming it is set in a time when trains were a more popular form of transportation.

Sean Sean, eh? I've always been told that you can't trust someone with the same first name as last...but maybe this guy deserves a chance :)

I would love to read The Case of the Purloined Painting. I have a fascination with the art that disappeared during World War II and the efforts to find it.
