Book Review-The Reluctant Elf (Christmas Novela)-Michele Gorman

Friday, December 26, 2014

What an adorable short book (approximately 120 pages) this is!! Perfect for this time of the year!! Michele Gorman is an amazing story teller who will capture your imagination and make you laugh and cringe--but mostly shake your head in wonder at the slap stick antics in The Reluctant Elf. I can't say enough good things about it. I read it on about an hour--no way I was getting up from this chair!

About the Book: (from Amazon)

Meet Britain's Worst Innkeeper

Single mother and extremely undomestic goddess, Lottie, has five days to become the ultimate B&B hostess to save her beloved Aunt Kate’s livelihood.

When Aunt Kate ends up in the hospital, Lottie and her seven-year-old daughter are called to rural Wales to stand in at the B&B. Without the faintest idea how to run a hotel (she can barely run her own life), Lottie must impress the picky hotel reviewer and his dysfunctional family who are coming to stay over Christmas. Without the rating only he can bestow, Aunt Kate will lose her livelihood.

But will Danny, the local taxi driver who she hires to help her, really be Santa’s little helper, or the Grinch who stole Christmas?

This one sounds adorable! I'm a slow reader, so it may take me longer than an hour, but I love books I can, and want to read in one sitting! :)

This sounds like such a good book! I wonder if it would be appropriate to read at night with kids as a bedtime story?

The cover is adorable. I love those colors together! I'm always looking for a great book. The quote by Sophie Kinsella caught my eye, too.

This sounds like a fun book. I bet I spend the entire book being a skeptic then am closing the book smiling. I like when there are unexpected heroes.

I resolve to read more in 2015 so I think I need more books such as this one to delve into this coming year. It's hard to find the time sometimes, but it's always rewarding and relaxing.
