Book Review-Tear Down and Die: Book #1 Cara Mia Delgatto Mysteries-Joanna Campbell Slan

Wednesday, September 9, 2020

This is a good clean cozy mystery! Cara Mia takes a road trip to see her son in Florida. She knows she should stop to see her grandfather--but--Her car breaks down right near the town her grandfather lives in--and he is a mechanic--so off she goes to get help from him.

He and his garage, not to mention his house are in terrible shape. It was like he gave up after his wife died. Cara Mia just has to help him.

Somehow she ends up buying a building, saving a tiny dog, and finding a dead body in the building she bought! She makes two really good friends and decides to make a go of the store. Cara Mia misconstrues a lot of things along the way. She does manage to get everything straight and figures out who killed the man---but there is another mystery brewing--and she is with Cara Mia's ex boyfriend from years ago! I will be reading the second in this series to find out what happens with that!

About the Book: (from Amazon)

She began a journey of self-discovery. She never expected to uncover an old boyfriend and a dead body…

Stuart, Florida. With her parents deceased and her son away at college, Cara Mia Delgatto longs to reinvent herself. And a sentimental purchase of a fixer-upper in a small, coastal town seems ideal for a new business selling repurposed relics. But when she trips over a corpse at her rundown building, she flips from renovator to prime suspect.

Desperate to clear her name, it shocks Cara to discover that her property once housed a multi-million dollar art collection—stolen after the original owner’s death. And when her first love shows up and tugs at her heartstrings, her whirlwind life upgrades to a hurricane. With accusations of murder and theft looming, she’s running out of redos…

Can Cara crack the case and rebuild her reputation, or will her desire to upcycle treasures send her to jail?

Tear Down and Die is the charming first novel in the Cara Mia Delgatto traditional mystery series. If you like cozy reads, witty heroines, former flames reconnecting, and Florida’s beautiful Treasure Coast, you’ll adore Joanna Campbell Slan’s captivating tale.
