Make sure you have tissues for this one. The life Miranda Steele lived before she finally got away (actually got kicked out) from her abusive spouse was not an easy one. Her baby had been given up for adoption without her consent or knowledge---she was devastated.
She managed to get back on her feet and swore she would find her little girl--and that she would never trust a man again! She took all kinds of back breaking jobs and moved around a lot. One day she went in to a bar sat next to a young woman. Some guy came along and tried to pick up the woman--Miranda interfered and beat the heck out of him. She ended up in jail overnight. It ended up turning her life around---she was bailed out by a very rich PI who actually believed what happened. He took her under his wing. It was discovered that she was made for private investigating.
He hired her and she was helping him with a case where teenage girls were being murdered. The only reason she took the job at the beginning was because she thought one of the girls friends might know something about a girl who was adopted and/or she cou;d use the agencies computers to do more research.
Of course she got involved with the murder cases and with the owner---but was really too afraid to trust men --so it was a back and forth.
Who the murderer was will make goose pimples appear on your arms!!
