Book Review-Melonhead (Tiny Historical Stories Book 1)-Kathleen Shoop

Having read and enjoyed both books in the Donora series I was thrilled that the author decided to write a short novelette about one of the characters. Louis Smith was not exactly someone that people would befriend--Hilde was the only person who saw beyond his disfigurement to the heart and soul of Louis. Then her parents sent her away. Louis' life takes a turn for the worse-he is just about rock bottom. Hilde returns after two long years. The ending will make your heart sing and beleive in true love!

About the Book: (from Amazon)

Melonhead is a SHORT STORY. Enjoy!

People stop and look twice at Louis Smith. His gangly arms and legs and oversized head bring jeers as often as the sun rises. Lonely in a small town at the turn of the century, Louis finds joy with one particular girl, Hilde. Her parents notice the affection between the two and send her to finishing school. With bad luck doubling up on Louis, can he trust Hilde to return? Will his heart break once and for all? Set in Donora, Pennsylvania in the early 1900's, Louis asks himself the most basic question: Is he lovable? Is he doomed to more than his share of life's unfairness?
