Book Review-Just Your Average Small Town Cult (Lainswich Witches Book 14)-Raven Snow

Tuesday, October 31, 2017

Rowen is bound and determined to NOT get involved when the local dentist is found murdered. She has enough on her plate what with the family store to get ready for the tricentennial--then said store gets vandalized. She gets roped in when her cousin's husband-a police detective-asks Rowen to view the scene and see if she knows about or has ever seen the symbol underneath the body. Of course she hasn't but it does look sort of familiar and like someone who knew what they were doing drew it! Meanwhile--her resident ghost--the one she promised something to but didn't do--is haunting her and causing all kinds of calamity. Rowen's Mom shows up with a new husband--can Rowen trust him?

This one will keep you guessing and you won't believe--not only why the guy was murdered--but why and how Lainswich was originally settled and by whom--and why news does not seem to leave the town--ever!

About the Book: (from Amazon)

Lainswich has its tricentennial coming up soon. That’s three-hundred years of existence for the insular, idyllic little town. It’s got the whole town busy, including Rowen’s family. Her aunts are turning their little New Age shop into a museum of sorts for the occasion. Her cousins are busy with the family newspaper. There’s no shortage of things to do and precious little time to spare… Which, of course means something extremely time consuming is about to happen.

When local dentist Edward Waite is found murdered, the police immediately seek help from Rowen. The deceased was shot execution style and, not only that, the crime scene makes it look like a sinister ritual has taken place. It’s only a matter of time before Lainswich starts to suspect their resident witching family, the Greensmiths.

Rowen wants no part in the investigation, but she might not have a choice. Trouble has a way of finding her. This time, trouble has taken the form of what appears to be a super creepy cult. Rowen has never had to deal with a cult before, but there’s a first time for everything.

Fourteenth Volume of the Lainswich Witches Mystery Series. Approx. 50,000 words in length. It is a standalone (reading prior or future volumes not required to enjoy the book, no cliffhanger)

I want to know how Lainswich was settled and by who. I also want to know why the dentist was murdered and by who. The thing I want to know the most is why or how actually the news never leaves Lainswich, that is awfully strange. This book is full of mystery!
