This one took me a while to figure out who done it--but luckily Liz Lucas was on hand to figure it all out (with Winston-her boxer of course and her lawyer husband who is forever worried about her.)
Even though the 5 friends from college who decided to have their annual reunion at Judy Rasmussen’s brand new Serenity Hotel and Spa knew each other for years---there was something not quite right. Were they really friends? I found it quite disturbing that when Nikki Evans was found dead (murdered actually) in the sauna--only one of them was the least bit upset. There were reasons but I can't tell you what they were.
Liz Lucas, friends with the new owner, decides she is going to help find the culprit--with the blessing of the local police chief and her husband. Of course her husband made sure to make Liz PROMISE to keep Winston (the Boxer) and a gun with her at all times. Was the murderer after Nikki or were they trying to shut down the new hotel/spa before it even got started? Some many suspects!!
The food, of course is delicious --but the new owner does not know how to cook! Well she does know how to make 2 things. Turns out that she hired a very good cook (much to Liz's and her husbands relief)--Liz will be taking some of those recipes back with her to her spa and they are shared at the end of the book.
About the Book: (from Amazon)
Book number seven in this bestselling cozy mystery series by seven time Amazon All-Star.
When Nikki Evans is murdered in the sauna at the Serenity Hotel and Spa on opening day, Judy Rasmussen’s dream of owning a premiere hotel and spa in Calistoga, California, turns into a nightmare.
Her friend, Liz Lucas, an amateur sleuth who’s come to the hotel and spa for the opening weekend, has to find the killer before the new hotel and spa’s chances for success are ruined by the bad publicity the murder will bring. The murder victim was a guest at the spa and part of a group of five women who are there for a college reunion. But who would want the reunion attendee dead? And what is the motive? Was it her college roommate, who’d never forgotten what Nikki had said about her years ago? Was it her husband, who resented that he had to use her inherited money to pay back the company he’d embezzled from? Was it the winemaker who wanted Judy’s property, so he could grow more grapes? Or was it the owner of La Spa, who didn’t want any new competition?
Join Liz and her big boxer guard dog, Winston, as they try to catch the killer, but will they succeed?

Blue Coyote Motel is a suspenseful love story which begins in the barrios of Southern California and spans the globe in such diverse locations as Provence, South America, and the Himalayas. The beautiful Latina, Maria, and her husband, Jeffrey, a scientist fired from a prestigious laboratory, struggle to build a new life in a remote Southern California desert area as owners of the motel.
Along with the anti-aging hormone, Jeffrey invents a "feel-good" wonder drug to help Maria with her depression. As Jeffrey becomes insane, he begins to experiment with the wonder drug. Six wayward travelers, including an alcoholic priest, a couple who own gold mines in Brazil, a depressed widow, a struggling salesman, and a Native American pediatrician, find themselves spending the night at the small motel. The next morning they wake up feeling better than ever. Has Jeffrey's miracle drug delivered? Or is the nightmare of addiction only beginning?
Coyote in Provence and Cornered Coyote complete the trilogy which spans the globe and introduces a character, Slade Kelly, a loveable irascible private eye, who many say has become their favorite literary character. The Mafia, food, wine, art, Provence, courtroom drama - all find a place in these books.
The Teddy saga is a multicultural romance set against the political background of California. It's the story of Nina, whose husband succumbs to the power of his office. Bigoted and biased, the ultimate irony occurs when she becomes romantically involved with the founder of the Republicans for Latinos, and in the process, discovers herself. The story continues in Tea Party Teddy's Legacy, a conclusion to Tea Party Teddy in the form of a novella.
