$25 Amazon/PP-1-WW-Trouble at the Animal Shelter-A Cedar Bay Cozy Mystery-Dianne Harman 2/8

Wednesday, January 18, 2017

I read this book in one sitting--it may be my favorite to date by Dianne Harman!! I truly love all of her books but this one --well I used to work at a no kill animal shelter as their bookkeeper for several years-very part time and almost for nothing! I would go in once a week to pick up their payroll cards then come home and do it--then go to get them signed and hand write any bills that had to be paid at the director's home--then many times deliver it back to the marvelous (very low paid staff). I could not take any of the animals home with me-I already had a couple of my own! There were so many volunteers who would come to take the dogs on walks or to just cuddle with the cats.

I have always trusted an animals instincts on whether people are good or bad--they are very rarely wrong!

It took Kelley to figure out a way (without her Sheriff husbands knowledge of course) to figure out the way to find out who murdered Maggie Ryan! There are lots of twists and turns and honestly although I semi suspected it--I really thought it might be someone else.

Being an animal lover I absolutely loved the ending--and even if you are not--so will you! And lets not forget the recipes which can be found at the end of the book--mouth watering!

About the Book: (from Amazon)

From seven time Amazon All-Star comes her latest cozy mystery.

When Maggie Ryan, a retired schoolteacher, is murdered, and over thirty dogs are discovered living in her home, the Cedar Bay Animal Shelter is stretched beyond its meager resources. What to do with the dogs and finding the murderer becomes a challenge.

But who would have wanted the elderly spinster dead, and what was the killer's motive? Was it the local reverend who desperately needed money to pay off his gambling debts? Or the neighbor who was kept awake by Maggie's barking dogs? Was it the disgruntled father of a boy Maggie had wanted to hold back a year in school? Or even the director of the animal shelter?

Join Kelly, the owner of Kelly's Koffee Shop, and her husband Mike, the sheriff of Beaver County, Oregon, along with a bulldog puppy named Max, and Sanyu, an Akita guard dog, as they literally have to sniff out the murderer before they become the next victims.

I do have a pet! It's a nine-year-old dog called Tobi and he actes heroically whenever someone tries to hurt someone of the family: we joke around a lot, playing and faking fights sometimes just to tease him. He takes it really seriously and even if he tries to bark against the "beater", he always wiggles his tail since he definitely knows we are just kidding around. I guess we are also kind of training him to defend us, somehow; he always gets a treat afterwards so I guess he doesn't really complain :)

I have lots! I have Toby who is an 8 year old hound, terrier, beagle mix and 6 kitties since three of the outside ones are probably just gonna live with us forever!

We call ourselves "The Zoo" because we always have a plethora of animals at our house (we are also part of a rescue group). Once, a drunk person came at me on the street and my dog snapped at him so he ran off.

I have 3 black lab dogs. When my granddaughter was about one and just starting to walk she was walking out towards the street and my lab Harley (he was our only dog at the time) got in front of her so she couldn't go towards the street, she had to turn around to continue walking.

Love reading about all these pets. We've had boxer dogs for the last few years. They're great with kids and make super guard dogs. So saying, our newest one, Kelly, is the sweetest we've had and hides under the bed when anything new happens, but she gets a lot of points for being adorable!

WE don't have a pet. Since most of our time are out of the house and to own a pet and leave it the whole at home alone is not acceptable. We love to get one maybe a couple of years from now.

The best and most heroic thing she has done is bring happiness to my life everyday...she has been through it all with me, and never once has she judged me or talked back! πŸ˜€ She is my baby girl and I love her so much! ❤ Thank you for this awesome giveaway...Dianne Harman is my favorite author!!!!

I have 2 miniature Dachshunds. Chopper is 17 and Templeton is 10. Neither one has done anything heroic but about a month ago my 17 year old ran after a huge Great Dane which I'd classify as dumb not heroic.
