This is the second book I read in the Secret Realms series and I loved this one just as much as I love the first Miss Ridley and the Warlock (read my review here ). As a matter of fact I have read others by this author and loved them all! All these books can be read as stand alone.

Try imagining that your entire family has been murdered by a feuding clan--you are the only one to survive. You have major magical abilities but are afraid to use them because that clan wants you dead too (they can use that magic to track you). Add to that--your dead family keeps haunting you to bring them back to life----and to top that off a major crime lord figured out your secret and is bound and determined to use you for nefarious purposes.

When Karene meets Malcolm, one of the kindest, most gentle and understanding males she has ever met she is cold, hungry and has no place to stay. You will love how their story unfolds!! I really can't say more or I will give away too much and I really want you to read this. I read the entire novel in three hours--I could not put it down! Any book Diana Green publishes--I will be more then happy to read!

Fleeing the men who brutally murdered her family, Karene Munroe must hide her magical abilities and hope to go unnoticed in the bustle of the capital city. She takes refuge in the house of Malcolm Thorne, a fireworks maker, who offers her a job as his assistant.

Despite her precarious situation, she cannot help but be drawn to this generous and charming man. A future with him could be wonderful, but her past won’t be laid to rest. From a local crime lord who seeks to use her powers, to the hunters who are hard on her heels, Karene is trapped in a maze of danger and lies. Can she find a way out before Malcolm is lost to her forever?

***Stories from the Secret Realms are historically-inspired fantasy romance. They share a setting reminiscent of England in the mid-19th century, but their world is rich with magic.

Each book stands alone, and they can be read in any order.

Miss Ridley & The Warlock

Gemma Ridley’s first encounter with Squire Kenrik proves nothing short of alarming. So much so, she considers fleeing back to the city, despite the fact only poverty and scandal await her there. Could those challenges be worse than staying as governess on a haunted estate and working for a dangerously handsome eccentric?

Little does Gemma realize what dark secrets and wondrous enchantments will transform her life at Rook Hall. Squire Kenrik is more than he seems—more than any man she has known. He may be the source of her undoing, or he may hold the key to her deepest desires. Only time and the guidance of her heart will tell.

Mr. Thorne and the Witch sounds like a really good read. It sounds like mystery, suspense and romance all wrapped up with a little black magic.

Diana Green has fast become one of my favorite authors, I love the warmth in her stories.

Perfect timing for this recommendation. My oldest daughter has been very interested in all things occult and has read a ton of fiction about it lately. Will point this one out to her.

Mr. Throne and the Witch sounds like something mother would like. She's more into the mystery than me.

Hmmm. I'm not sure what I'd want as a magical talent if I could have one. Perhaps the ability to apparate from place to place. (I'd never be late LOL.)

My magic power would be to read minds because I want to know if they are lying to me or not.

If I could have any magical power it would have to be the ability to control time. I'd want to be able to freeze, fast forward and rewind. :)

My goodness! What a scary and complicated story. This is the season for magic and we can all relate to its powers.
