What Did Google Change? Does Anyone Know---

Thursday, February 5, 2015

Google did something and it has affected all our Alexa scores. No matter what I do or try it still continues to go up instead of down. I tried putting up 2 posts a day--nope does not work--I put up 3 once or twice and I think it went down--but in all honesty I can not keep that up. On top of that I am being harassed by Google. They seem to think that I have an account which I really only use as am email account for someone else! Yes, I have told them numerous times. I have also stated that on my real account I am NOT an affiliate of Amazon. They were trying to get me to pay for Google ad words--if they don't believe me--just check!

Yes, I do have some affiliate links on my blog which on all honesty I don't even bother checking anymore--maybe I should take them down? I am into book reviews--not selling!! Yesterday I actually hit a button that will put me on their do not call list--a phone call every day is quite annoying--It is Google's Ads which really run on my blog!

The strange part is the companies that want us to do product reviews don't even ask for the Alexa score anymore--I think even they realize it is not a true indicator of a blog's popularity anymore. When Alexa decided to "cave" to Google they hurt themselves!

Does anyone know why this is happening and/or what we can possibly do. PLEASE let me know in the comments below. I'm almost at the point that I do not care--but I am darn curious!

Good...I'm not the only one who's noticed this problem. I've totally given up on Alexa. It doesn't make sense anymore and I can't keep up. And you're right, no one who's solicited me to do a review has asked for my Alexa score in months. WHEW!

I could never figure out how they figure all of their numbers out.

I am more for page views than alexa ranking because the number of my alexa keep raising so I don't really care anymore. I also watched a video about Google not updating the page ranks anymore so I am not sure if page rank will much of importance to our site. Although according to Google, they will still monitor link[s.

I don't ever even check my Alexa score. I am not going to stress myself out over something that was so stupid to begin with.

I have no idea what has happened but I have noticed it too. I see alot of other bloggers talking about it as well. I am keeping track of mine anymore.

I've never been up on the Alexa scores and really don't know anything about them. I've never had anyone ask me for that score before.

I have no idea either. I was actually surprised a couple of days ago because instead of going down, my Alexa went up. But I've heard that Alexa ranking isn't accurate. So, I don't stress myself with it. :)

I heard that Alexa is to blame because they reformulated their formula.

I wish I had the answer because I would love to know, too! I've stopped checking because of the changes.

I have my own anger issues with Google! They took away my adsense right when I reached the payout threshold and said that I was cheating. UGH!

i was trying so hard to get my page rank up and then I heard that they are not going to update it anymore. I have given up on that sort of statistic and am concentrating on building my email list.

I have noticed the same thing. I was way lower then I am now. It's really high now. I can't seem to get it to lower much at all.

I don't check. Adsense took my account away when I was .40 away from my first payout.

I definitely agree with you, google is a pain sometimes but it is still my default search engine. I don't use Alexa really, maybe I should..

I really don't keep up with Alexa numbers anymore. If that stops a brand from working with me then so be it....

I don't know that much about that so I cannot help either. I just know what I'm supposed to do and I never really check my score. Guess I should. I hope all this work is not for nothing. Bummer!

I have seen people talk about Alexa before, but honestly I have no idea what it is. Maybe I should try to figure this out, but now doesn't seem like a great time to do that!

I just started following Alexa threads and I thought they were working but they aren't really! I've checked my analytics and I've been getting just a few more fews than when I wasn't doing Alexa! Ugh! So frustrating!

I honestly do not know but I have never had it have a negative effect on my being chosen for a campaign. Just write great content and don't worry about the stats...

Wow I really need to pay attention more to stuff like this. Thank you so much for informing me ♥

My Alexa score rocks so I kinda stalk my score... Even though I have never once been asked for it.... But my Google rank.... Ughhh... I know for a fact it should be a lot better than it is but it hasn't updated... I'm guessing after reading this they aren't updating anymore... Figures -_-

I had no idea Google had anything to do with Alexa. I was under the impression Alexa was calculated by the number of pages visitors visit on the site and how long they stay in general. Mine is now a little over 100,000 which is an increase but the only thing I can do to lower it is post good content and interlink my blog posts so visitors want to stay on my site longer and go to other pages.
