Do you like psychological mind blowing thrillers? Then this novel is definitely for you! I read it in one sitting-and am still shivering at some of the images which were artfully portrayed by the author's choice of words. Booker-a police officer is suspended after he finds one of the other officers beating up on an old drunk and will not lie and change his story.

Then the bombings begin----and Booker is bound and determined to help find the culprit or culprits responsible. He is toying with the idea of becoming a PI and does get his first job thanks to an old friend who owns a bar that Booker frequents. There is actually a bit of comedy, albeit street comedy, in this novel as friends interact with friends.

You will know who the bomber is and possibly why he does this--and all is explained at the end of the book. Does Booker become a PI--will he reconcile with his daughter's mother? All I know (or am willing to say at this point) is that I am glad this will be a series--one I will be following!

NEW RELEASE....

On a cool October afternoon, the majestic blue sky above Dallas is polluted with swells of gray smoke, carrying shattered memories of fifteen people, mostly children, who've just been killed by an explosion on a bus.

A white supremacist group claims responsibility, opening old wounds, turning neighbor against neighbor--fracturing the community.
A Southeast Dallas native, Booker T. Adams couldn't be more invested in the city…in the people he'd served for the last seven years as a beat cop for the Dallas Police Department. Without warning, it becomes personal for Booker on so many levels. And as panic grips the city, he must decide how much he's willing to sacrifice to end the chaos.

With his career called into question and his family in the crosshairs of one terrorist act after another, Booker invests every fiber of his being to protect a broken community, and to stop the brutal, senseless slayings.

If he fails, terrorism will reign in the city of Dallas.

About the Author
A veteran of the corporate wars, former journalist, and true studier of human and social behavior, best-selling author John W. Mefford has been writing novels since he first entered the work force twenty-five years ago, although he never put words on paper until late 2009.

John writes novels full of intrigue, suspense, and thrills, but they also evoke an emotional connection with the characters.

When he’s not writing, he chases three kids around, slaves away in the yard, reads, takes in as many sports as time allows, watches all sorts of movies, and continues to make mental notes of people and societies across the land.

John lives in Frisco, Texas with his beautiful wife, three opinionated kids, and a feisty fat cat who rules the world.

I don't think I've ever read a book in one sitting, but there are books that I go "Ok, I am going to read one more chapter, then do the dishes." Come back. "One more chapter, then sweep the floors." lol. This sounds like one of those kind of reads for me. One that I just have to rush through my chores so I can get some more into the story.

Growing up in Oklahoma I was always interesting in reading stories centered around Dallas, a place I would visit all the time. I like to see just how accurate they are about the surroundings.

So when I looked at the cover of this book, I immediately wrote it off as something I wouldn't be interested in, and then I read the synopsis and I think I have changed my mind. I could get into this. It sounds interesting, and also an important dialogue about race issues. I look forward to reading your thoughts on the rest of the series!

This sounds so good! I'm just now watching the old HBO series The Wire and am loving it. This book is right up my alley. If I were a beat cop in this area, I think I'd try find ways to help child victims.
