Miscellaneous Musings from Miki's Hope

Last week was filled to the brim with UPS and downs--even today Sunday! It has been so crazy could someone please tell me if I am coming or going?

For quite a while now (months in fact) I have been wondering if I had a great Alexa ranking because of all the spammer comments I was busy deleting each and every day. Google used to put the Anonymous comments into a spam folder which I then went through just in case. There have been a couple that weren't spam and I would correct them. WELL--someone at Google or Alexa or maybe they put their collective heads together finally figured it out. Although it says in my back end that Anonymous people can comment and that no Captcha is ever needed--guess what--suddenly like overnight--no spam comments and my Alexa is going up, up, up. Luckily I do not do too many product reviews (nor do I want to). Plus--people who never had trouble commenting on my posts before ARE. I just don't have the strength or the time at the moment to try and call Google--By the way-the same number of spammers are still coming according to the stats!

Next up--my feelings were very badly hurt, I actually was sitting here with tears coming down my eyes by something that occurred on line-I am not going to go into this-lets just say I won't be going there anymore!

Then my Mom switched one of her doctor appointments without telling me. I had to quickly call my client and switch for a different day. She is still swearing that she did not do that--YEAH RIGHT--oh well. I took my Mom to her appointment and then went to lunch at a really good Chinese Restaurant--I love their pepper steak and the lunch portion is the perfect size. After we ate I was told of the errands we had to do. One of them was to go to the other side of that outdoor strip mall. I dropped her off at the door and parked. Suddenly this woman comes up to my car and tells me her Dad told her to come tell me I had a badly flat tire (glad I'm not the only one who gets bossed around by a parent!)--------------------My Mom comes out and I point out the problem to her. I have AAA and Geico but didn't feel like waiting hours and this was Central Ave--lots of gas stations and a tire place down the road a piece. So off I drove--I pulled into the first gas station I saw-My Mom went in to see if they sold tires--of course not. Meanwhile-I am standing looking forlorn just staring at that tire. A man comes up to me and asks if I would like him to change the tire. Of course I said YES please. My Mom was in shock. This poor guy really had to work at it-it was not easy-one of his friends came over to help him! OK-donut on-but they tell me that was kind of low (they were correct) and that there was a place literally around the corner where they could help me. I tried to give the guy some money-HE REFUSED TO TAKE IT. Around the corner I drove. This place was kind of new so I hadn't even known they were there. They fixed and sold tires!! Granted they are used tires but appear in very good shape. 2 tires for $60.00. Then they told me they also do oil changes etc--I asked them to check my oil. I knew there was probably next to none in there and I was right--2 quarts of oil and a lecture from the guys working on it! Will I go back there to have the oil changed? You bet your life I will!!

Now here I sit on Sunday--I had just put up a really nice giveaway and very easy to enter (only 4 things to do)on Saturday, $25.00 Amazon/PP-WW- @HappyHarvest Giveaway Hop-Ends 11/10 suddenly I was made aware by a very nice blogger that my comment box was not there!! It took about an hour and I still don't know what caused it--but the comment box is back!

I will be spending the bulk of the rest of the day reading and writing up reviews so if you don't see me--you know where I am--

You surely did have some ups and downs Miki. I'm so sorry about whatever happened online that got you down. My advice would be to not think about it and move on. I've also noticed that I have no spam comments and was thinking that's great! I'll have to check my Alexa and see if there's a difference there as well. Sending you some hugs for this week.

I think I had the exact same week! I wouldn't worry too much about Alexa though, they're playing with their ranking system. All bloggers are down HUGE since late September,

Sorry you had such a horrible week! Hopefully this great giveaway will help pull up the numbers. Have a better day!

I'm sorry things have been tough lately! My week has been crazy but definitely due to my FT job. It seems anytime I have good in my life, I have to have some bad as well. Keep up the good work and things will get better. Hugs!!

I try not to focus on my rankings (if I did, I'd be on an emotional roller coaster!) Glad you found a decent mechanic for oil changes and tires! And even more glad a kind stranger helped you out with changing the tire.

Aww Im so sorry about your week. I "try" not to look at the numbers to much, it takes away from why I started writing :) (HUGS)

I think we all have those days, and I am sorry it seemed to all hit you at once! My Alexa rank is going up too, but I have decided to spend less time doing reviews during the holiday this year so I can focus more on my family. I hope this week is much better for you!

Must be the week. I had a big co. tell me I need not apply to review for them because my pictures are no good, my content is no good, my writing tone is no good, and I don't have good enough numbers. They did tell me, however, that if I would like to change all of the above (essentially every single thing, hahaha!!!) that I could reapply in 6 mos. ;) I took the constructive out of the criticism and will be working on some changes, but I'm really glad not everyone feels that way.

Like you though, I had so many good things happening too at the same time. I love that you had someone offer to change your tire that wouldn't accept money. That is so very, very awesome!!

I guess the icks really do help us appreciate the hurrahs! I'm glad your comments are working again, and all is getting back on an even keel. :)

I don't pay too close attention to my stats. I grab them for people when they need them but I don't know what is good and what is bad. And I kind of like that, I don't stress it too much. I don't really understand how all that stuff works.
That's really nice that guy changed your tire! That's something I always stress about. I don't know how to change them and if I got a flat I'd be in a bad situation!
Sorry someone hurt your feelings on here. I am super sensitive and my feelings get hurt easily. But I just have to force myself to move on.

I totally feel for you. Last week was one of the most trying weeks for me. Fortunately my husband stepped in and relieved some of the stress - but oh man... I hope this week works out better for you.

Good luck on your reviews. While it is good you don't have to worry about spam comments, I hope your traffic is good for alexa and all!

These kind of days are the ones I say screw it and go back to bed. We all get them and they are the ones that get us thru the next one. Thanks for sharing. :)
