Infographic-Climate Change and Food Security

Wednesday, October 8, 2014

As some of you know I have an environmental science degree. I also am a citizen of this planet we call Earth and have seen the changes in our climate over the years. Whether these changes are a natural occurrence (Climates do change over geologic time) or man-made or a combination of both-I will let those with far more advanced degrees then I have to debate that question. I have witnessed food prices sky rocketing when crops fail. And with the weather being rather unpredictable, too much rain, not enough rain, too much heat, not enough heat various crops are failing all the time. Right now it will be hard to find fruit at prices everyone can afford. More and more people are going hungry around the world-and also I might mention many in the so called developed nations like the the United States! Our entire global food system is at risk. What can we do? This infographic brought to you by the Vermont Law School on-line outlines some of the problems and how they might be alleviated.

I will leave you with these thoughts-There is nothing we can do about climate change at this point in my opinion thus we all must do our part to alleviate hunger and if possible return to sustainable living.

I often hear about the effects of climate change with the polar ice caps and changing temps but I never really thought about how it would effect food supply. I think we can do our part to help reduce the effects of climate change by making wiser choices. I love seeing things like electric cars being developed because it will slow down the effects
