What Kind of Phone Number is Best for Your Company?

I have worked at all different kinds and sizes of businesses over the years and even had my own Bookkeeping Service. I often wondered how companies decide which phone number(s) they should have. I had a cell phone number which was a standard price for virtually any state. My company serviced the tri-state area (NY, NJ & Conn) and several other states in the continental US. I certainly did not want to have to pay roaming charges. I also had voicemail on my landline if someone needed to reach me but it was not critical! Had I only known there was something like this I would have decided to go with a Virtual phone number! I am not sure there was such a thing back then.

As I said, most of my clients were on the smaller side and did not do business out of the tri-state area. Some of them did get local 1-800 numbers, but not very many—then I had a medium sized company where not only did they do business in all the states-they did business world wide. This company sold products and needed their customers and vendors to be able to contact them quickly and without incurring additional charges.

I was with this company at its inception and I only wish this website had been around when the owner was trying to figure out what to do! I really did not have the knowledge and 1800numbernow was not in existence at that time. This site explains what you need for each type of business and more important why. There is a plethora of information about the various types of 800 numbers and about Virtual numbers (it explains the difference and which might be best for your company) and where you can get them.

You can sign up for a 30 Day FREE Trial to find out what this is all about.

1800numbernow.com is giving away a $100 Visa GC to one lucky winner-just fill out the rafflecopter below!

What a cool idea - I remember as a teen my parents had an 0800 number made so I could phone them if I was ever in trouble and without credit on my phone :) x

Boring and totally practical but I'd probably use it toward buying groceries ;) I think this is such a neat company because with so many people having free long distance on their phone plans these days it's great to know if as a small business you'd really need a 1-800 number or not.

If I were to win the $100, I think I'd buy some Cloth diapers with it. My son just out grew about 15 of ours so I really need to get some more & I'm single right now with no income, so we don't really have the money to get some more!
