Book Review - Knowing Vera- Rachelle Ayala

Wednesday, November 13, 2013

Having read one of Rachelle Ayala's books before Broken Build (for my review click here) I already knew I would love this book. In this story, almost a Romeo and Juliet type romance, Vera & Zach are constantly being torn apart by the past. Zach's Mother was murdered and Vera, although only 7 years old at the time, was a witness. Vera's father jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge and was considered dead, but suddenly Vera learns he may be alive and living in Australia. Zach's family owns a winery there-or did at least. They decide to go together-but someone else has his eye on Vera and attempts to keep them apart. Poor Vera-she really loves Zach but is afraid if he learns her father killed his mother he will never forgive so it is an off again on again love affair. Will everything be explained in the end? Will the pair ever get together? Read this book--I give it 5 stars and I read it straight through-I could not put it down!

Watch for the giveaway which will appear on my blog on 11/21!

Vera Custodio has never fallen in love, though she has strong feelings for her friend and sometimes lover, Zach Spencer. Long-forgotten memories resurface when Vera discovers Zach’s mother was the woman her father supposedly murdered many years ago.

After losing his leg, former triathlete Zach Spencer reevaluates his life—and realizes he’s falling in love with Vera. After she ends their relationship, Zach is determined to prove his love and follows her to Australia in search of the killer.

Caught between a web of family secrets and a deranged adversary, Vera and Zach must depend on each other for survival. Love blossoms, but the truth explodes everything Vera knows about herself. Will she close her heart forever or risk it all for a shot at happily-ever-after?

I love modern day Romeo and Juliet romances. The loss of a limb and following someone to Australia makes it quite interesting. Looking forward to reading this.
