Book Review - Bobby's Trials - Bobby Wilson, JD

This is part of a book tour brought to you by Worldwind Book Tours. For complete tour participants please click here.

This is a biography where truth is definitely stranger then fiction! He was accused of murdering his Mother and sister but he does not remember a thing until after he is finally acquitted of the crime 10 years later. I can not imagine what this author went through and how he managed to not only keep his head together but overcame all obstacles and ultimately became a lawyer to help others who, like him, were and are railroaded by the legal system in this country at times. Although I rarely read biographies I will be purchasing the sequel to this book very soon-I can not wait to find out how his career went! 5+ stars for this one-a MUST read. This, so far, is my favorite book of 2013.

About the Book: (from Amazon)

Since 1963, Bobby Wilson has held his tongue in regards to the presumed murder of his family in which he was put on trial. In Bobby’s Trials, he pens an insightful, heartbreaking memoir of the events that led up to the violent deaths of his mother and sister. As he chronicles his early childhood, he reveals what life was like for him growing up as an Oklahoma farm boy with a mother who suffered debilitating depression as well as strange fits of paranoiac rage. An absolutely spellbinding true-life crime drama, this intimate debut proves to be a strangely uplifting anecdote of survival. As Wilson wrestles with clinical amnesia, endures two murder cases against him, becomes a lawyer, and becomes a husband and father, readers have a benchmark in overcoming incredible odds—and proof that justice often is elusive, if it occurs at all.

Book Excerpt:(from Worldwind)

In the early morning hours of June 19, 1963, just four days before he was to leave for basic training, Bobby Wilson was awakened by his mother.

She held a loaded gun to his head and had a crazy, yet familiar, look in her eyes. Alongside his sister, Bobby had suffered her rants for years, but tonight was different. Bobby knew without a doubt that the demons that his mother had struggled with for years had their sights on him.

He realizes he has nowhere to turn and nowhere to run, but he has no idea that the nightmare has just begun. It is a nightmare that changes the course of his life. It is a nightmare that will ultimately take Bobby ten years to wake up from.

It is a shame that some are put away and they are innocent while others who are guilty are let go. I could not imagine what he went through. It is great that he helps others now.

Sounds like a good read but would love to see this in movie format. I'm not a big fan of biographies (written) but I love watching the movies and this sound like something I would rather watch.

I love biographies, but I've never thought to read a true crime bio. Since I like bios and crime fiction, seems like a no brainer now!

This sounds like a riveting story. I can't imagine how difficult it must have been for the author to endure what he did and then to have to relive the ordeal by writing about it. Can't wait to find out what really happened that night.

That must have been tough, to both go through it and to relive it and out it on paper. Worth the read.

Oh my goodness, this book sounds intense and incredible. I cannot imagine being put on trial for the murder of my family and not be able to remember anything and not be able to help in my defense or the investigation. That has to be a very isolating and painful way to live. I can't believe this is a true story. I need to read this!
