What a Lovely Time I Had

Sunday, June 2, 2013

Yesterday, Saturday, I picked up my Mom and took a long day trip to my cousin's daughter's Bat Mitzvah. I live in New York and the Bat Mitzvah was being held in Massachusetts--not far from Boston. Luckily on the way up there there was little to no traffic and even with stopping twice along the way it only took 3 1/2 hours (yes, I was going very fast!!). It was a beautiful day and since we took the Merritt Parkway the scenery was magnificent--the trees full and green. I really could not figure out where this was being held since the invitation said at the Habitat. Well, thanks to the GPS I bought my Mom some years back we found the Habitat--imagine both our amazement when we realized we were at an Audubon Society Park!! I only wish I had had the time to wander around--

This was unlike any Bat Mitzvah I had ever attended-it was more like an affirmation of faith--we all sat outside in this beautiful setting and listened as people spoke. The Bat Mitzvah girl did one heck of a good job on the project she had to do for this occasion. It was a study of environmental issues. As I mentioned to my cousin, he better hold on to that paper--she could use it for a college senior thesis!! (remember she is only 13!) Afterwards we all hung out outside drinking soda, water, or juice and appetizers were handed out. Then inside for a lunch. I loved seeing and talking to all my cousins--we really do not see each other often enough! Most of the other New Yorkers had spent the prior night up there and were spending Saturday night as well--but it was time for my Mom and I to head home--Yes--I made it home just as quickly!!

When I walked into my apartment at 8 pm Baby let out a very indignant loud MEOW--she was obviously displeased that I had been gone so long!! I fed her and she somewhat calmed down but got me in bed pretty quickly where she could knead me for about an hour!! She was making sure I stayed in bed!! I'm just hoping that today she allows me to leave the apartment to run up to CVS!!

So glad you had a good time. I bet you were really tired from driving. Baby sounds like my Daughters cat.... everytime my Daughter goes away her cat misses her to pieces.

I have never been to one, it sounds like it was a beautiful event. I would have wanted to wander around as well. I love that they did it outdoors, especially with what she had to speak on.

It sounds like a lovely time. I think it is wonderful that you took your mom and spent time together. I had to smile when you talked about Baby being upset you were gone. Pets are so funny!
