Steep Discounts on Services I Need—Where Can I Get Them?—

Friday, January 11, 2013

Ever since I have been partially unemployed I have been putting off everything. I need a hair styling/color job desperately-but the cost is prohibitive. With my length hair the total cost without a tip is a minimum of $100.00. That can buy a lot of cat food-not to mention food for me. I could also use a laser hair removal treatment for my upper lip—You are probably thinking-why won’t she at least color her hair herself at home. I only wish I could—however at my age and with my length hair—my arms can not seem to be held above my head for the period of time needed. As for the upper lip hair—yes, I can sugar it off or Nair it off—but it comes back so fast!! Since I had today off I decided to go shopping for these services on the internet.

Laser treatments are a minimum of $150.00 a session—not that I can afford that but I wonder how many treatments it would take. You see I once had these treatments and it is a fact that Laser does not work on blond hair (or gray which mine is turning) very well—and it does come back eventually. I also googled the hair salons near where I live----they are pretty similar in price—much too high for someone in my predicament. OK—I have seen lots of places that offer discounts on services on-line—so off I went to scout them out—

I took myself tours of MyPoints and Amazon to see what kind of deals I could find at these sites. Well I have enough points at MyPoints to get a gift card for a spa of my choice—unfortunately it would not cover the entire visit! (thought of possibly waxing the hair off) Pricegrabber had a great deal on Laser hair removal that is not too far from where I live. I will just have to keep going back to see if a hair salon near me pops up with a really great discount for hair cut, color and style at any of these places. There is a beauty school not far from me--wonder how much they charge--worth a short drive to find out.

You could save up your swag buck Amazon codes and eventually purchase a Gift card, or maybe a home laser treatment system (not sure if they work). However, you might want to see if you can find a beauty school near you. I used to live near one, and while it took a lot longer to get your hair done (I think learning meant slower), a haircut was only 14. I am not sure what a color is, but yes, it's $100 minimum if you have long hair. I do mine at home, but was spending so much coloring my hair that I had DH foil in blonde highlights for me which masks the grey a little better. Good luck finding your services

I know a lot of people who go to the beauty schools to get stuff done. As far as I know, they have had pretty good results.

THAT is why I won't start dying my hair. I have dark brown hair and I'm starting to grey at only 32. I refuse to color it, though, because I don't want to pay for the upkeep. We have a beauty school near us and I have heard that the prices are severely discounted. Just Google the one near you instead of driving over. I'm sure the prices are online!

Beauty schools really are a great place to get a deal on services. I know that when I took Cosmetology in school, the teacher watched us like hawks so that we didn't mess anyone's hair up. Unfortunately, we didn't wax though - but we did dye and highlight hair.

I would have never thought to check these places. Some of my favorite places to find discounts for services is: Groupon, Amazon Local, Living Social, and Deal Chicken. Good luck finding something!
