Just gotta tell ya what happened today-----don't laugh too hard!!!

Wednesday, July 13, 2011

I got up this morning and didn't really feel like going to work--but that is nothing new so I got myself moving--I have a client I go to see once about every three months in NYC and today was the day-----Now I had heard a month ago I think it was that they had taken away the Third Avenue Bridge and it was being towed down the Hudson to somewhere in New Jersey---(yes you read that correctly--they took down and towed a bridge-only in NYC!!) Well I decided not to take any chances, drove down the Major Deegan--no real traffic (that should have told me something right there!!)--I get off at the Madison Avenue Bridge--I follow the signs to Manhattan--I go over the bridge--then I proceeded to turn left instead of right!!!!
Okay--I saw an entrance to Central Park--figured it would take me to the East side of town--I ended up driving a very big circle!! (beautiful drive by the way--)OOPs--still on the west side----drive a little more see a sign for Broadway-hum--take it--see Columbus Circle--now we are getting somewhere (all the Horse Drawn carriages were out and about)--I managed to circumvent Columbus Circle and get onto a street that would take me to where I wanted to go!!! Of course I ended up on Madison Avenue--stop and stop traffic all the way--hum--gotta get to 3rd Ave--turn--now I really know where I am-(I'm on Park Ave but the wrong side)--but do I remember where the parking lot is-HA--took a couple of turns around a couple of blocks--stop and stop traffic everywhere!!---Pulled into the parking lot and took a DEEP BREATH---worked---get my car---now no problem I know how to get home--what I wasn't counting on was that there were detour signs for the Third Avenue Bridge (now remember that bridge has been towed away) which took me back to the Madison Avenue Bridge through one of the worst parts of the city!! I made it over the bridge---only to hit a MAJOR traffic jam on the Deegan---Let's just say--I am VERY happy to be home again and doubly grateful I don't have to drive down there all that often!!

Sounds like quite an adventure! I've never had to deal with NYC traffic, I'd probably lose my mind!

one of the things I hate most about Atlanta is the traffic! I would happily move to rural east nowhere if I could have the roads to myself!

I am a new follower from the weekend blog hop. Hope you get a chance to visit and follow back. Have a great weekend!
