Book Review-Quantum Lens-Douglas E. Richards

I don't know whether I want to say Yikes or Wow to this technothriller. One thing for certain--I will be thinking about this book for many years to come. The author does tell you at the end which technologies are already here-or close to it--and which are imaginary (at least for now). It delves into (if only briefly) several of humanities ageless questions. The one I have been stuck on for many years (how does a single egg cell multiply into an entire human being) is not answered in here unfortunately--we may never know. The use of hypnosis, which can actually be proved by me, is only as effective as the willingness of the the person to accept it. I was hypnotized to stop eating chocolate at one time--unbeknownst to me someone asked the hypnotist to get me to stop smoking at the same time. I stopped eating chocolate to the extent I had been---I never did stop smoking! As this book points out--the sub conscience rules more of our behavior then people realize!

Douglas E. Richards has never failed to write a book that I didn't thoroughly enjoy and that didn't get me thinking!!!

About the Book: (from Amazon)

A mind-blowing new technothriller from the NY Times bestselling author of WIRED

Omar Haddad is a brutal jihadist in Syria who appears to be invulnerable and capable of supernatural feats. But is Haddad divine, as he claims? Is he a gifted magician? Or is he making use of a stunning scientific breakthrough? And what, exactly, is keeping him from unleashing the global apocalypse he's so eager to bring about?

Brennan Craft, a quirky quantum physics genius, has the answers, and the US military is desperate to capture him. But when Craft risks everything to recruit a Black Ops researcher named Alyssa Aronson, it becomes clear he's playing a treacherous game of his own.

Hunted by both the military and Haddad, Craft and Alyssa race to find a way to keep the unstoppable jihadist in check. But there may not be any way. And Alyssa soon fears that Craft is becoming an even bigger threat to the world than Omar Haddad . . .

Quantum Lens is a smart, roller-coaster-ride of a thriller, packed with intriguing ideas that readers will be contemplating long after they've read the last page.

"Richards is a tremendous new talent" (Stephen Coonts) who can "keep you turning the pages all night long" (Douglas Preston)
