I have a cold--or an allergy--I'm betting on a cold. Sometimes I can't tell the difference but what ever it is I just keep going like the Energizer Bunny!

  1. I drink ginger ale and eat soup. Just lay in bed and relax with lots of blankets. Meds always make me feel worst for some reason.

  3. I will stay on Nyquil every night that I am able. It really helps you get the needed sleep that allows your body to heal itself. Of course, the alcohol content probably helps as well. Thankfully, I've not had a bad cold for a couple of years.

  4. Every time I have colds or even any one in the family has it, I let them rest the whole day and make sure that they are well hydrated. I usually rub vapor rub on their chest and cook them their favorite soup.

  6. I have lots of trouble with allergies. Usually for that use salt sprays for my sinuses, which works well for a cold too. Salt gargles really help with sore throats as well. I also like to make ginger tea straight from the root,it seems to help get past the cold faster and is great for an upset stomache too

  7. I usually try to take something right away for it. Dayquil and Nightquil seem to work best for me. I hate having colds so i try t stay right on top of it. Doesn't always work though.

  8. I drink lots of liquids. I rest as much as possible. I take some Cold Remedies like Alka-Seltzer Cold Plus and Tylenol to help with the fever.

  9. I sometimes take something to help with a cold, mostly I just ride it out. I am sure to wash my hands a lot when I am sick and go through about a can of Lysol trying to prevent anyone else in my home from getting sick.

  13. When I have a cold, I usually use a saline nasal spray, take over the counter cold medication, get lots of rest, drink lots of water, and use a humidifier at night.

  15. I get some fresh Puffs Plus with lotion. It greases up my glasses but it saves my nose. Then I just use OTC cold medicine.

  16. It depends, if I can keep going, I do, and try to get to bed early and have lots of juice with vitamin c. If worse, I just lay low and drink juice and have foods like eggs with toast.

  17. When my daughter starts getting a cold, I immediately buy one of the big bottles of V8 Fusion. She drinks it all within a couple of days, and the cold usually goes away by then. It's the quickest cure we've found. She likes the acai mixed berry or strawberry banana...

  18. When I have a cold like the bad chest cold I had a couple of weeks ago, I try to drink a lot of water. I also try to rest as much as possible. It is horrible when it feels like somone is sitting onyour chest. I also don't use a lot of cold medicine because it sits on my stomach and makes me nausous.

Allergies are the pits, I hate when it changes seasons and then my nose starts running and I get headaches and just feel miserable, I hate to stay in the house, but I can tell when it is going to be windy or rainy because my nose begins to run, I like to drink water, take an occasional Caritin or Zyrtec or the like and take it easy we also love to push vitamins and zinc when feeling ucky.

  20. When I have a cold/allergy, I load up on Vitamin C, drink lots of hot beverages, teas and broth, stay in bed and try not to infect anyone else! Oh! And lots of thorough hand washing, etc.!

  24. I don't do being ill very well at all so I have a hot bath, make up a hot honey and lemon drink with some ginger in it and curl up under a duvet with a book or three!

  33. I have allergies all year long, so it seems like I'm always trying to do something to push back the symptoms. Adding just a little bit of honey to tea soothes the throat. Drink lots of water!

  34. I very, very rarely get colds, and I don't have any allergies. I can't remember the last time I've taken anything. I used to sleep off any illness I had but with little ones now that's not an option!

  55. I don't have a lot of trouble with allergies. Just a couple of short times of year the Spring and Fall I have a little trouble. I seldom get any kind of cold either so knock on wood I hope it stays this way from now on lol

  61. When I have a cold I take vitamin C and Zinc, I make hot tea with lemon and honey and curl up with my favorite soft blanket. I also sanitize everything, wash hands often and use antibacterial products.

  62. I drink lots of tea- some of my favorites are ginger peach and an apricot one that has extra vitamin C and echinacea. Eucalyptus oil is excellent for stuffiness and headaches- a good diffuser is worth the investment.

  64. I use a combination of Excedrin Migraine and Zyrtec D, or sometimes Benadryl. I also take the longest, hottest showers possible and hold a hot wet washcloth over my face to try to open up my sinuses.

  65. I take steaming hot showers and then slather on vapor rub. I try not to take medication, but I occasionally have to take sudafed. I like to make myself hot tea and have a couple teaspoons of honey. And I always make sure to sleep, sleep, sleep! My fiancée usually takes the kids to grandmas so I can sleep when I am sick. I do the same when he is sick.

  66. I catch it quick. If I feel it coming on, I take echinacea vitamin and take a few pills of vitamin C. If I take nyquil, it is over quicker.

  68. When I get a cold I take a bunch of Vitamin C, multivitamins, and echinacea. I take an OTC like Alka-Seltzer cold fizzy tabs and suck on a bunch of honey flavored Halls. I drink a ton of Orange Juice, Gatorade, and Vitamin Water Zero's. If I able to stay home, then I curl up on the couch under a blanket, eat some soup, and watch a Friends marathon lol. Friends always makes me laugh and puts me in a better mood.

  78. I use to pull out the Clarifying when the allergies flared up, but I am thinking of switching to Zyrtec actually. I also use my amazing Vicks Kleenex! Stay hydrated with plenty of water but treat myself to 7up which is something I've had since I was a child when I wasn't feeling well. Lastly, suck on my Vitamin C drops. Yum! :)

  87. I am lucky enough tpo not suffer from allergies, so when I have a cold.... I am constantly wiping everything down with bacterial wipes and spraying the sofa and bedding down with Lysol. I will say that usually when someone gets sick, it does not spread around my house ever! Fingers crossed.... and it works! Lots of handwashing! Thanks for sharing and good luck to all!

  89. I read in an article that if you soak your feet in hot water at the first signs of being sick, that it helps suck out the toxins. Then you dry your feet completely and put on thick socks before you go to bed and it helps you feel better. It has worked for me!

  106. When I have a cold or flu I eat crackers and soup and flat ginger ale. During allergy season... which is all the time it seems I use some simply saline and OTC medications to help combat the symptoms.

  112. I've had allergies of DOOM lately! The only thing I've ever found that actually really works is shots IN my nose at the allergist's office, but they're way too expensive! Strangely, coffee does seem to help a bit!

  120. I have horrible allergies this time of year and can not take OTC medications so I use a Neti Pot. Hot showers seem to provide relief for a short time, but sleep is best. Hope you feel better soon!

  122. I take Power Paks, which are similar to Airborne tablets, but the powder tastes better, and there are more vitamins and minerals. They always make me feel better.

  124. The first sign of a cold, I start drinking more fluids and increase my Vitamin C. I also start taking a cold medicine, like Day Quil to begin it to get in my system, Also, I try to get more sleep so I am well rested. :)

  128. When I have a cold or allergies and need to open my airway I use one of the vicks tablets in the shower. I also drink a lot more fluid to thin the secretions so it is easier to get everything up and out.

  133. When I have a cold, unfortunately I just have to let it run its course as I have a weak immune system. I do have to crank up the heat in the winter, get under a warm blanket, drink plenty of liquids and get much needed rest to recover.
