You never expect something that happened years ago to come back and haunt you in the present. You probably even forgot about the entire incident or else pushed it way back in your memory banks. This is what happened to Cooper Hudson. Of course he called in Jake and Al and asked them to look into it and find a way to prove his innocence. This was a really old cold case that had been brought to life when someone sent the diary with a page missing to the police! This has a lot of twists and turns!!

Meanwhile DeeDee is attempting to hire an extra chef so that she and Susie can have some time off when one of her employees comes in crying and very upset. Her little boy did not come home from his friends house and no one knows where he is. DeeDee decides to try and use one of her dogs, Balto, who has been lightly trained to find things by Jake. Will Balto find the little boy?

The Northwest Cozy Mystery series is by far my favorite--I love all her books--but Al is my favorite charactor of all!!

About the Book: (from Amazon)

When Cooper Hudson, a successful Seattle businessman, is suddenly investigated by the police for the death of a college friend, Javier, from many years ago, he’s forced to revisit past events and relationships.

There was a painful breakup with Juliana, who became Javier’s girlfriend, so not all of those memories were pleasant.

If the death of his friend from the past is determined to be from murder, a police detective has assured Cooper that he will be the number one suspect, because of his falling out with Javier. There were a number of witnesses to their arguments all those years ago, but some of those people had issues with Javier which might make them suspects as well.

It’s a fact. Very wealthy businessman make enemies. Is that the reason this case was opened after all those years? Is this a vendetta against Cooper? If the police decide he’s involved in Javier’s death, it could mean the end of his business empire.

Fortunately, he has Jake and former Mafia man, Al, on his side to help. They begin to investigate the case and soon find missing evidence. But will it help or hurt Cooper?

And thank heavens Jake has spent some time training Balto, his husky dog, to find scents. It sure helps when a little boy goes missing.

Yes, I have been angry enough with someone that I said something I shouldn’t have. Fortunately, it didn’t come back to haunt me.
