Book Review-Heaven to Betsy (Emily #1)-Pamela Fagan Hutchins

Monday, April 6, 2015

I love to laugh out loud and Pamela Fagan Hutchins books never fail to do that for me! This is the first in a new series which is a spin off of the Katie & Annalise series. Emily was always helping out in the last series but this time she needs help badly!! Her mother refuses to believe that Emily is not going back to her husband (even though he left her for another man!) and is constantly with her Church group having them say prayers. Mothers do have a way of not really seeing very clearly on occasion! Then someone is murdered at a wedding by an illegal woman. Jack, an attorney in the VERY small town manages to get Emily to work for him. She becomes obsessed with the fact that the womans young daughter is missing. She enlists the aid of a child welfare worker and a woman she met at a coffee shop? Things get pretty dicey!! Will they get the woman off from the murder charge? Will Emily be able to find the little girl in spite of her boss trying to stop her? Can she make her Mom understand? I can almost guarantee that you will enjoy reading this book--it will keep you enthralled and reading from cover to cover!! You know I will be waiting for the rest of this series!!!!!!!

About the Book: (from Amazon)

99 cent pre-order/new release price until April 8th, for the next novel from this bestselling and award-winning author, in a new Katie & Annalise spin-off series!
Heaven to Betsy features Emily, Katie's stateside best friend, in her own hilarious adventures.

When a dead body swan-dives from a balcony into the pool at a wedding, gossip comes to a halt about disgraced paralegal and former rodeo queen Emily—whose husband left her for a woman who turns out to be a man. Enter Jack, a secretive attorney and sexy mix of cowboy and Indian. She refuses to work for him, until she learns about the disappearance of the six-year old daughter of his notorious client Sofia, the wedding shooter, who is also an illegal immigrant. Emily feels a strange affinity with the girl and launches a desperate search for her. Bodies pile up in her wake across Texas and New Mexico as the walls around her own secrets begin to crumble, and the authorities question whether the child is anything but a figment of her imagination.

A murder at a wedding? That doesn't sound like a great start to a marriage!

I love a book that makes me laugh. The problem is, it makes my Hubs wonder what I am laughing about. Then I have to stop and explain.

The title alone is interesting, what more the story? I've heard of the line 'Heaven to Betsy' first from the hubs who loves to read. I do wonder if he had read this book. Will ask him. :)
