On My Quest for Peppermint Tea----

Friday, January 9, 2015

Most people these days think of me as a coffee drinker--and I certainly am. Ask anyone who knew me when I was growing up and they knew me as a tea drinker. It wasn't until I hit college that I discovered coffee. Not that it ever kept me awake then-and it still doesn't. I can drink a cup and go right to sleep! Same holds for tea.

I grew up on English Breakfast type tea--black tea in other words. In my early teens I started to experiment with different types of teas--nothing exotic-teas like Irish Breakfast tea. Then one day I discovered Peppermint Tea and a life time love affair was born. Not only did I love the taste but it seemed to help when I had an upset stomach. As a result I always try to have at least the tea bags if not the loose tea in my apartment all the time--just in case!! Then one fateful night very recently my gallbladder started up on me--I had one teabag of Peppermint tea left--I used it then I panicked.

You see I really didn't have time to order any on line and I couldn't seem to find any in the stores. I even tried Starbucks-all they had was Mint tea--not the same as Peppermint tea!! I was shopping in the A&P the other day and was glancing at the teas and low and behold I saw "Real Peppermint Tea"--I grabbed it!! Didn't look at the brand-cost-etc-just grabbed it. Came home made a cup immediately--Whew--real peppermint tea--delicious!! I still had not looked at the brand. Just tonight I had another cup-it really is good and as I was going for a second cup I decided to look at the box--Imagine my total surprise when I saw that it was the store brand-A&P--It is every bit as good as all those other teas that cost a whole lot more!!

If you want to know more about Peppermint tea Click here to read what Wikipedia has to say. Just remember that for me Pure Peppermint is all I want--no other mints invited!!

This is not a sponsored post--A&P has no idea that I wrote this!!

I'm also the same with coffee I can drink a cup and go right to sleep, although I still really can't get through my morning with that cup. For some reason it provides some sort of completeness to the morning once the cup of coffee is in hand. I don't know what it is. As for the peppermint tea, both my front and back gardens get full of peppermint in the spring. I'll have to save the leaves now and make tea! Never thought to do that!

What a great idea, I love peppermint tea but haven't ever made it from scratch. That will change now!

I am not a huge tea drinker but I do have stomach issues. I actually have peppermint tea at the house. I wonder if that would help my tummy!?

I don't think I've ever had peppermint tea. Do you have to add much sweetener to it or is it good enough plain?

It is great that you found a tea that is local to you and that you love. Peppermint is one of my favorite flavors too.

We love Peppermint tea! The kids don't drink caffeine, so they love that they can make a cup of tea since it's made from peppermint leaves and not caffeinated tea leaves.

I had actually tried the Peppermint Tea before and it was really good. And yes, it did help with my upset stomach. Haven't been drinking tea in a long time now and a hot cup of Peppermint Tea sounds good to have. Thanks for sharing!

I have to get both mint and peppermint to see if I notice. I have always favored peppermint over mint anyways. It is so worth trying store brands. There are some things I get store brand because they taste better. Thanks for sharing.

I tried to eliminate caffeine in my diet, sad to say, I am having a hard time. The withdrawal is too much to bear.
