Baby Figured Out How to OPEN the Drawers and Door of my Highboy!

Thursday, January 2, 2014

One day as I was opening a drawer to pick out a tee to wear I noticed Baby watching me intently-thinking nothing of it and finding nothing I wanted to wear in there, closed the drawer. I opened the door portion-pulled out a sweater and closed the door. Baby was still watching me- Now this cat is no dummy and she waited for me to be sound asleep before attempting this for herself. She really does not like any closed doors and had finally figured out how to open the folding doors to my closet in the foyer, which I am no longer allowed to close-she is more stubborn then I am and even if I put something in front of that closet she manages to open it and likes to hide in there on occasion.

Well, one morning, about two weeks ago, I woke up and noticed that the two bottom drawers to the highboy were partially open-thinking I had forgotten to close them I thought nothing of it. I should have known better!! Then I woke up and saw that the tees from the bottom drawer were on the floor-the two drawers were open again--Now I knew I would not just dump clothes on the floor--the culprit was lying on her favorite chair in the living room at the moment--

Then I began to wake up to not only the drawers being open--but the door as well!! Yesterday I was reading in bed and looked up--Baby was all nicely cuddled up on my clothes in the door portion keeping her eyes on me. Then this morning I awoke to one of those shelves emptied onto the floor!! I put those clothes into the empty drawer and shut all drawers and door again--this is becoming a daily occurrence!! Remember, she does all this once I am asleep!! No wonder she attempts to get me into bed at an early hour!! THAT is a story for another day!!

I had to google what a Highboy was. LOL. Around here we just call them armoires :) And this story is hilarious. You never know what our pets are really capable of until they do it.

Awwww so sweet. I love how our pets do some crazy silly things sometimes. We have a dog that will find old clothing from who knows where and it will be laying in the middle of the floor and I'm like where did that come from? and who's is it? Gotta love the pets.

Cats are really the best. If they want something, there is pretty much no stopping them. They're too smart!

Ha! Cats are really smart and good at problem solving. At least solving something they think is a problem for them :)

What an intelligent cat that you have! She's definitely sneeky too!

You have a pretty smart cat. Mine loves to get into the closets and drawers also but he hasn't learned to open them. And I'm very thankful for it. It's enought to have to look for my shoes all over the house because the puppy has decided to play with them.

That is great, we have one cat that opens doors. Our doorknobs in the house are not the round ones so it is easy for her to hang on them to open the door. It is all okay until we have guests in the restroom and they do not know to lock the door. Cats are so crazy and so very smart.

Hahaha!! Cats are so smart our new addition thank goodness has not mastered opening the doors yet. Our old cat would go in any room she pleased since they were a lever one. Used to drive me crazy lo.

It's actually amazing when you saw how they are able to do that. I don't really have a cat so I'll never knew but the way you shared it - it was quite amazing!

Cats are so smart! A friend of mine used to have a cat who had figured out how to open doors--with door knobs! Somehow it would jump up, clutch the knob with a paw on either side and rotate the knob enough to unlatch it. Amazing animals!

That is one stinking smart cat to do all that! Ha! Our toddler is just learning to do all that, so I can't imagine a cat doing it! That is so funny.

I've always loved cats but I'm very allergic to them and so is my son. I love how independent they are and how affectionate they are too.

LOL how cute! My mom was just telling me stories of their own cats (they have 2) and how clever and smart they are.

That is so funny. Animals are smarter than we give them credit for. I can't wait to hear the story of why she wants you in bed early and what she does to get you there.

Hahahaha! We have a "genius" cat like that too. He likes to shut bathroom doors and open kitchen cabinets.

Baby is a little mischief maker, huh? But such a beautiful kitty too!

That is too cute! If we leave out anything interesting overnight, our CoCo will get into it, and most likely hide it. We have to be careful...but she doesn't open doors!

Lol. Animals shouldn't be underestimated, since they could be smart without us knowing

That is too funny. My kitty is too lazy to even try and open the door. All she does is sleep.

We have big sliding doors on our master bedroom closet. We had to install barrel bolts (way up high) to keep our cats out. The little cat was sliding the door open enough to get in.
